What is going on with him? I've checked periodically but of course I have been disappointed. What in the world do you feel like/what is going on T.Dot fans?

He's still "adjusting." I hope that answers your question. All this thread will do is cause a riot when someone steps up to the plate and says he's a soft euro who's turning out to be a bust.

He's shown flashes (as do other NBA talents) but lol yeah. That's where defending Bargnani starts and ends. He's shown flashes and has improved on defence.

He's a soft euro who's turning out to be a bust. I'm glad they picked infront of us that year, really worked out for us

He'll peak as a Memo Okur clone. He'll be a serviceable player, but he'll never come close to living up to #1 overall pick standards.

I love the way ESPN hypes up player before the draft day.

Bargnani was to be better than Nowitzki and last year Durant was going to be better than KG.

Let's listen to Barkley when it comes to Draft Day.

I never got that pick.

Yes he had lots of potential, but so did guys like gay, who was already better than bargiani.

Then throw in roy.

Calderon/Roy or gay/bosh = scary for at least the next 2-3 years.

The thing about Barghani, I never remember him bring projected to be the #1 pick until Toronto won the lottery. I don't think any other team would of picked Bargs #1. He was project in the 5-10 range for most of that season

The last few games have been promising [besides the Denver game]. He has pretty much proven he can be a dynamic scorer.

Besides the Denver game where he only got 13 mins of PT in a blow out loss [for some crazy reason] and the Miami game where he got hurt and left, his rebounding has also improved a lot [from his season average though.]

In that stretch he has been popping off 6 boards a game, twice his season average, and he has been getting [finally] consistent mins [in that stretch he only played less than 20 mins once.]

Last 10 games [excluding the last Denver game]

mpg; 31

ppg; 16

rpg; 6

apg; 2.4

FG%; 45

3P%; 33 [Poor 3-ball shooting in a good stretch further symbolizes that his game is not limited to the 3-ball.]

Solid numbers when given playing time and when he is sometimes relied on as the primary option [much like Rudy. The numbers look similar too]

I don't like to compare Andrea to Rudy because, Rudy gets all of 13-14 mins more than Andrea on average [and plays more consistent mins] and has taken twice as many shots. He is the main man, and though I think that he is better than Bargnani and would like to have him in Toronto, I don't find him all that impressive.

As a Toronto fan, I know that even a decent player can average nice stats on a bad team. Andrea's nice stats match up with a 5-7 Toronto record, and Gay's nice stats match up with the Grizz's bad record. How else would people like Mike James and Morris Peterson look like stars [both had career years when Toronto was a lottery team, but average weak numbers on a good team]? This is no knock on Rudy's ability, but I'm just stating fact.

Roy on the other hand has been much more impressive, as his team is actually winning, and he is putting up nice stats.

Bargs' stats will start to improve starting next season, but he will be amazing in 3-4 years.

Yeah, the last 10 games have been good, if you think that a 3-7 record is something to get excited about.

You are assuming he is leading the team

I hate the 2006 draft. The top bigs have turned out to be a waste of time.

Wrong. Draftexpress amongst others had him as a potential #1 in November of 05. He was always in the running for the top pick in 06. This 5-10 crap is what started coming up after the Raptors won the lottery, not before.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Bargnani has the potential but needs a better work ethic. Not saying its not good right now but it needs to be better. One thing I have been impressed with is his man-to-man defense, however his help defense needs to be improved by alot. As far as shooting hes really streaky. When hes hot he'll hit and when hes not he won't. He also needs to be confident on daily basis.

the guys only problem is inconsistently. he has shown he can score 20+ a night, but he has to do it consistently, which i think will come in the next few seasons. his rebounding has improved in the last two months. i really think (and hope) he'll break.

this is how i see his numbers going

year 3 - 16/6
year 4 - 18/7
year 5 - 21/8

The problem with Bargs is not his skill, its his heart and his work ethic. He doesn't seem to play with any passion and settles for jumpers and fade aways when he has little guys on him. His basketball IQ is also very low as he makes terrible decisions on a regular basis. He's turnover prone and foul prone. As you can tell im not a fan of his game at all although i do believe he has the skill to be a very good player.

Bargnani will be a better player next year, once he has a chance to practice playing at Center during the offseason. He needs more time to learn without the pressure of winning games. I'm looking for an improvement in his game skills and production next year.
