Jameer's Jumper is the key to his success

Post#1 » by cjrwell22 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 9:37 pm

It seems to me that Jameer's biggest problem is his lack of jumpers. Recently he's been shooting the J better which has increased his effectiveness. Remember the beginning of last season when Jameer's jumpshot was automatic? There was a 10-15 game stretch where he was a legit threat to knock down every 2 & 3 he took. Look, when your 5'10 and want to be successful in the L, your jumper has to be wet. Teams disrespect him going waaaay under the screen, but if he can take and make more jumpshots and 3's, it can help mask some of his other deficiencies and help his game, and the rest of the team.

What I have noticed lately, and is MORE important than the jumper... Is his passing.. over the last few games his passing has seemed to just improve by leaps and bounds..He seems to know to drive and kick and does it at a very strong rate. It's too bad our team hasn't been making the shots for him, but he is really tearing the defense apart as of late and really deserves alot of credit.

No turnovers in his last three games. Wow.

Jameer has been a lot better lately, and I am glad to see that jumper coming around. To me it seemed he couldn't get a jumper to fall for a few months.

When I see Jameer driving and kicking to open guys and canning his own shots I see a guy who is very capable of being a starter at the point, but he has to become more consistant. He can't play great for 2 weeks and then disappear for 3 weeks. I actually see an improvement in his defense recently as well.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

i think jameer should work on his flopping. for being small he will always have a disadvantage but he must also use his advantages. when larger point guards like billups and andre miller try to post him up he should just fall on the ground a couple times. you see players do it all the time against us with dwight or even when rashard trys to post up. flopping usually changes the momentum in your favor.

the key to Jameer has always, and will always be his aggressiveness and his confidence. When he is aggressive and confident, he plays amazing. When he is tentative and afraid to shoot, his play suffers dramatically. Even a simple turned ankle will send Jameer railing and cause him to play bad, because his confidence is shaken.

He certainly has been knocking down the 3's lately . That is helping his confidence which improves his game as a whole as Jay pointed out

I think you're right. I could tell after the first couple of plays that he was going to have a good night against Miami. He seemed to have a little more pep in his step so to speak.
