Monta Ellis vs. Rashard Lewis

Who would you rather have on your particular team, assuming both were available for the same contract?

I take Rashard Lewis, just because hes way overpaid, that doesn't mean hes not good player.

For my team (Raptors) although Rashard Lewis is IMO a better overall player than Monta Ellis, we already have enough guys at the wing that like to shoot (Delfino, Moon, Kapono). We'd benefit a lot on the fastbreak with Ellis, since we're like in the bottom in terms of pace and I believe last in fastbreak points (not sure). Ford and Ellis running the break would be a beauty to watch. Now people are going to tell me why would Ford and Ellis play both guard slots at the same time? Well, Sam Mitchell is an idiot and knowing him he will do this.

rashard is a better player and fits in easier. very effective without the ball. being one of the better shooters in the league he spreads the floor.

Lewis always going to be the better player, because he has size advantage,
hes already better shooter, hes also very good post player.

Monta's already a better mid range shooter IMO, and much better slasher and fastbreak player. Shard has more all-star appearances, but Monta will be much better, if not now.

Stats only tell part of the story. Shard is the 2nd best player on his team and gets the 2nd most attention from opposing defenses. Monta is the 3rd-5th best player on the Warriors and draws equivilant defenders.

I'd take Monta, not only one of the most efficient guards in the league, but one of the most efficient PLAYERS in the league. He has one of the best mid-rangers in the league (I'd even go as far as saying that he's had the best mid-range jumpshot this season).

He's handled the ball much more this season and done a very good job of not turning it over (under 2 a game). He's one of the better small men rebounders in the league, and the different looks he'll give you in transition with his finishing/slashing ability is up there with any player in the league.

It's pretty close at this stage and I'd have no problems with people saying Rashard since it can be situational with him being one of the best perimeter shooters in the league with an underrated back to basket game (which is what Monta lacks at this stage of his career) BUT in the future I'd think Monta would surpass him by a healthy margin if not already by a slight margin.

I love Monta, but he's the 3rd option on the team that hardly gets doubled. Same goes for Ginobili most of the time. Put both of these guys in #1 roles, they aren't the same players IMO.

Ellis at 6'3'' rebounds and shoot's a better percentage than 'Shard. He comes back EVERY season improved. This next step is to get a 3 point shot. Being only 22, I can't see why he can't improve. A player at Rashard's height should be getting more boards and blocks than Monta, but he doesn't.

Isn't Lewis the third option on his team as well? Howard easily draws the most attention and Turkoglu has played at an all-star level all season long. So that argument doesn't really work considering they are both the third options on their respective teams.

And I'd really have to say this, after the first couple months of the season, Monta has easily been their most consistent player (and I'm talking 20+ plus points). I'd even say he's right there with Jackson as the second option.

I wasn't trying to compare him to Lewis, I was just saying in general. I have watched alot of GS games this year and while Monta does get attention, it surely isn't what Baron and S-Jax get. Baron helps take attention off of Monta playing along-side him and when S-Jax is out and the attention shifts to Monta, the Warriors are 0-8 this year.

Remember that Monta is only 22. Has tons of room and time to improve. In a couple of years, Monta could easily be the #1 option and the face of the franchise.
