Semi OT: Jazz vs Nets Game

Post#1 » by Bigmagicfan82 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 3:57 am

I missed the Magic game tonight because my neighbor gave my friend and I two tickets to the Jazz vs Nets game. These were VIP floor seats right next to the Jazz bench. So we got to go to the VIP Lounge and stuff like that. But I did Tivo the Magic Game and I did keep up with the score online... :D

Anyway so here are some of the highlights from the game.

I was rooting for the jazz durring the game.

So at first Mehmet Okur was standing in front of my friend and I. Okur is on my fantasy team and hasn't really been helping on the boards. So I yelled to him "Hey Okur how about grabbing some rebounds today." He then kind of gave me a look like who the f*** are you.

Got to say what's up to Ronnie Brewer. That was cool.

Durring the game I was making fun of Vince. He was missing a lot of shots so I started to call him brick city. Then he wasn't playing hard defense, nothing new. So everytime he lost his man I yelled to him "Way to play defense superstar,".

The cool stuff really happened stuff happened during halftime. I was coming back from the VIP lounge when I ran into DA. said Hi to him had a short conversation with him. This is like the third time that I met him. So nothing big. Then while I was there DeSagana Diop walked by. So I couldn't help myself but to try and politic for the Magic. When he walked by I told him "Sign with Orlando in the offseason."

This was Sly, the Nets Mascot , 11th birthday. So they had the mascots from the Spurs, T-wolves, the Jazz, and Philadelphia Eagles their to celebrate. So when I got back to my seat the mascot for the Spurs sat down next to me. So I turned to my friend and told him "Look it a mascot from a winning team,". So the Spurs mascot started laughing and then started shaking my hand. My friend then said "Man that is wrong, but it's true". The Spurs mascot just threw up his hand like to say, "
What can I say?"

In The 4th quarter after the Nets made a run my friend started to yell "Call a timeout need to regroup" and Jarron Collins then turn to my friend and said "But we are still up." So they started to go back and forth with the conversation. What was interesting about the situation was the Collins kept looking back to make sure Jerry Sloan wasn't looking. I guess Sloan doesn't allow his players to talk to the fans during the game. So after a while the other fans started to jump on Collins for not getting in the game. I then started to tell him don't worry your team still has a winning record, your still fourth in the west and, that the Nets will be nothing more then the Celtics chew toy.

Beyond all this the game was great. It came down to the wire. The Jazz were up 3 and then the Net came back and took a 2 point lead and won.
Hope you enjoyed my story.

Heck yeah I enjoyed your story.

I think I enjoyed the DA encounter and Spurs mascot laughing moment the most.

What kind of food did you have access to in the VIP lounge? I bet it was good.

They had wings, hot dogs, and potato pancakes. The food was ok but it could have been better.

You're right. Good food, but in a VIP lounge, you expect better. Did they have relish?

Yeah they had all the fixings and stuff like. They also had cookies, popcorn, and free drinks that wasn't too bad.

I've seen the Jazz practice, and I'm curious what your thoughts on their chemistry is. From what I saw, Sloan is a jerk who only talks to his favorites (Deron, Boozer) and Deron acts as Sloan's little cronie. When I watched them (they had a shoot around in my college gym, and I go to a tiny school, so I saw and heard everything) I paid special attention to Andrei Kirilenko (two reasons: 1. this was right after he came out in the press with his desire to be traded and 2. I've always wanted him on the Magic) and during the shootaround, the only people that acknowledged him were the guy stretching him (some ball boy) and Okur, who seemed amiable with him. Just wondering what your impressions were.

The players seem to get along real well. Sloan seems to be a very strict coach. Like I said Collins was afraid to let Sloan see him talking to the fans. Kirilrnko and Harpring always sat at the end of the bench. They were always very quit.
