With Marion out with an injury, Miami wants to make certain they do not win any games. Should we get all excited that Pat Riley is coming back to finish the season with the Heat. I bet Ricky Davis does not go down with an injury, since this guy never saw a shot he did not like. He reminds me of Lloyd Free.

The best scenario is that Miami losses on the ping pong balls and picks 4th. Only one scenario in Miami tops what Miami did this year. That would be back in 1982 when the Miami Dolphins watered down the field in Miami the night before the title game, so Freeman Mc Neil would have a rough time running the ball. The plan worked and Miami went to the superbowl. However, because of what Don Shula did, It has been illegal for 26 years to water down the field the night before a game.

The Miami Cheat have the worst fans in basketball. Many of their fans are fron NY. They got some phantom calls against Dallas which allowed them to win a tiltle against Dallas. Now the Cheat are laughing all the way to the lottery. I wonder who will get the last laugh?

I thought about making this very same thread a few days ago when I found out that Marion now has an "injury." Miami is tanking for sure.

Does it really matter we had our chance to tank and we didn't take it. We had our chance at a superstar player and didn't take it. It just looks like sour grapes from people who complain about such things. So we are upset that the Heat are doing what the 76ers should have done last year to land Durant or Oden. Now it's for Beasley or Rose an the same will happen the following year now that the high school kids go to college for one year. Unless Stern does something about it I would advice people to get used to it.

Seriously... this is getting RIDICULOUS! I hope Stern steps in and announces that the rules for the lottery have changed this year and that all non-playoff teams will have an equal shot at breaking into the Top 3.

Honestly.... this draft seemed a lot better two months ago than it does right now. While I'm sure someone out of this draft will have a good to great career.... I have to say that there are legit questions about everyone, Beasley and Rose included.

Indeed. But I do believe that this draft has a great deal of talent from top to bottom. This is the kind of draft where a NBA team's front office will be earning their pay check because I feel that quite a few sleepers will develop from this draft much like Kevin Martin, Michael Redd, and Ben Wallace.

Tend to agree.

Last year was a draft for the ages. It wasn't quite 1996 or the LBJ/Melo/Bosh/Wade year.... but it might be in the discussion one day. Anyways, I think the depth of the 07 draft spoiled us so bad, it might've made some of us a bit delusional about the prospects of drafting game-changers in 08.

I see a lot of really, solid players in this draft (Love, Hibbert), but not an abundance of game-breakers. It's still verrrrrrry early. So a lot remains to be seen. Ibaka is my latest mancrush. But I agree, this draft is something of an enigma right now.

Beasely is questionable because of attitude, but IMO his game is ready for the NBA. He's a beast. Incredibly physical player with a sweet jumper. Pretty rare combo.

IMO, there is nothing questionable about Rose. Absolute stud. I actually see future HOF PG in him. IMO Rose will soon join CP3 + Deron Williams as the league's next great generation of great point guards for years to come.

it was because it was the 2nd draft after the NBA imposed the age limit thus increasing the talent twofold. reportedly, stern wants the age limit increased another year to age 20 so one could expect a big draft class two years after that is put in effect.

Miami's level of shameless tanking can only be described as being of epic proportions.

A team with a young siperstar in place should not be allowed to mail in a season in order to get rewarded with a second superstar. Its one thing when MJ or the Admiral legitamately go down and their teams get lucky in the Lottery (Duncan) or make a smart pick (Pippen.)

It a whole other thing for a team to have a beat up player, and decide to shut down all if iuts starters because it better suits their long term plans. The Heat should be booed viciously for the next 10 years if they come back as a top playoff team in the next two years.

The Miami Heat have never tanked. Incase we're forgetting THIS TEAM SUCKED, AND STILL DOES. Pat Riley tried to make a move, tried to bring in an all-star caliber forward. It didn't work, the Miami Heat are OUT of playoff contention. Why not try and secure that you get a good rookie in the draft? And remember, it's not like they even need to. Pat Riley admitted to scouting, but guess what? You do that in the NBA. And it's good to get a head start rather then go at the combine with alot of other people. Your own evaulations, your own advanced opinions. Do the Heat have an edge? Yes. But guess what, so would other lottery teams if they took a page out of the books.

It's fair game.

Great post, TK76....They're mailing it in on so many levels it isn't funny. Look at that roster and explain the extreme level of ineptitude. They're not world beaters, but tehy are certainly not the worst teamin the league....until they opted to be. Too bad the NBA doesn't like to speak of such things

I have an easy solution for this stuff and it is this ...

If you get the top pick in the draft, you cannot pick in the top 5 for 5 years.

If you get the second pick, you cannot pick in the top 5 for 4 years.

If you get the 3rd pick, you cannot pick in the top 5 for 3 years.

The 4th pick, a 2 year wait and the 5th pick a 1 year wait.

Just call up Stern and the problem is solved.

that's how it ends up naturally. atlanta and charlotte are the only teams i can think of that hasnt followed that rule.

i just don't see how that would stop tanking. Teams that tank don't do it year after year. Miami, Boston, Spurs a while back. and the other teams like Memphis and Twolves, that rule wouldnt apply to them
