ESPN's response to the Shaq trade

Post#1 » by BRINGTHEPAIN » Mon Mar 17, 2008 2:41 am

When the Suns acquired Shaq I expected 2 things. (a) They would go 2-8 in the first 10 games with Shaq. (b) They would win the Championship this season.

Yet when the Suns began the Shaq era 4-6 I was hearing ESPN analysts saying the trade was a complete failure. I was thinking, the Suns are ahead of schedule.

It makes me wonder what the so-called experts were thinking. Did they really expect the Suns to click in the first 10 games and go something like 8-2? That completely defies logic to me.

So my question is, are those in the media really that stupid or are they only writing to create emotive responses from the fans? In other words, do you trust ESPN writers?

They are right. Stupid trade. The suns will regret it. Doesn't matter though. They would get beat in the playoffs reguardless.

Nobody knows anything yet. I've been right about things they haven't, and they've been right a bout things that I haven't.

At least they realized a move needed to be made. I really like the trade. Marion was a constant complainer and Shaq is motivated. The playoffs will show who is right and wrong, but lets not think with Marion they'd do better, in fact they would do worse in my eyes.

The more I think about it the more I like the trade for the Suns. You see by trading for Snaquille O'Meal the Suns finally have another excuse for why they don't win the championship this year.

Thats true, the playoffs will show who is right and wrong.

And that is another reason why those who instantly called the Shaq trade a failure are wrong. The trade was for the playoffs, and for playing the Spurs more so than anyone

I don't think the analysts are knocking the trade due to the Suns' 4-5 record. They are knocking it because Shaq screws up their entire system.

Then again, they're blaming Kidd for the Mavs' problems too, so maybe they are just that stupid.......

Well Shaq was expected to screw up the Suns entire system for the first 10 games (according to me). But it was never going to be any longer than that, and now the rest of the basketball community is seeing that. 4 straight wins including defeat of the Spurs and Warriors, and a 79 point first half yesterday on the Kings (who beat the Lakers a week ago).

I guess the Kidd trade for the nets can be used for the same reason.

while im unsure whether they will win the title, i agree with you that they have certianly increased their chances at playoff success. it would have been nice to see if they had more than half a season to work it out.

As long as they get to play the Lakers and Spurs I'll be very happy about the playoffs.

The media just wants to you rile you up, just look at the Lakers situation for instance... In preseason they said if Kobe stays with the Lakers they would not make the playoffs, and once we got Gasol(a 1time All-Star, Zero All-NBA) they consider us the favorites even though we lack experience, defense, and chemistry.

Media(ESPN)= a joke
