I remember a bunch of Knicks fans posting about how the Knicks were definitely going to be better than the Magic this season.

Just ask Magic Johnson. Pretty sure he guaranteed the Knicks would make the playoffs.

From the "We haven't improved enough to make the playoffs" file:

http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic. ... sc&start=1

Why people think we aren't going to make the playoffs is because of the other teams that have improved.

..

The Magic hasn't drastically changed. Realize that we lost 2 other BIG pieces that the Magic had. Grand Hill and Darko Milicic. Which that combo in my people, some other people are better than Lewis himself. The provided Defense, Offense, and provided the clutch moments.

and I don't understand some of you saying the division is ours to lose. Seriously, we haven't won anything. Then there are 2 teams who are better than us. Then there is 2 teams as good or better than us. Unless they are unhealthy there isn't a possible way of saying it's our division to lose.

Their are 4 other teams who will make it before the Magic. Heat will definately make it if they are healthy. As long as they have Dwyane Wade and Shaq. They are garunteed a playoff spot. New Jersey, Jason Kidd hasn't missed the playoffs in 12 years. Plus they got Vince Carter and Jefferson on their team. I don't see how they cannot make the playoffs. Then you have Washington with Gilbert Arenas. Who will always take his team to the playoffs. Then you have Butler and Jamison. Toronto, who has Bosh, Ford, Bargani only improving. They played good and consistantly last year. Unlike the Magic wasn't consistant last year.

And its not every year we are being compared to the Atlanta and Charlotte. It's every year that we don't make the playoffs. And we have not even made the playoffs until last year. Where we barely got in because of the injuries and bad teams we played against. Then you have teams actually improving from last year. Knicks, Bucks, Hawks, Bobcats, Celtics. This year we have more competition. This isn't the conference that we played against last year.

I went with Washington on a whim. Here's why. If they really do trade Gilbert for Kobe, then Washington becomes the team to beat in the Southeast.

LOL... never heard that rumor before

Hopefully some of the recent playoff threads on the general board can find their way to this thread someday...

I love this thread, nobody gave this team a chance in hell to even make the post season (well, a couple press guys did.) and we end up being a division champion and third seed in the conference. This team is dangerous, and guaranteed any potential playoff opponant knows it.

It's funny, a lot of press and panicky posters are having to eat the **** they dropped back in the fall.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

This is fun. I'm going to do some research on my older posts, for better or for worse I'll have a laugh out of this.

Ok, question.

How come I go to ''find all posts'' and get like 50 pages of results but somehow I can't go to page 2 or up, I get this error ''
No topics or posts met your search criteria''.

Great stuff.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Well in defense of various Magic fans in these threads - perhaps it was a result of let downs over the recent years that colored their outlook for this season. Perhaps it was the let down of the off-season.

As long as they are still Magic fans, that's what's key.

Honest question: Has flyingvee posted much? I don't remember seeing Dwight in a LAL uni recently.

BTW - bucs80 owned up to it in another thread.

I think alot people (specially media people) over inflated Grant Hill's impact. Remember all the people talking about his "veteran leadership", being a go to guy and so on. I was one of the people that kept saying before the season that his "leadership" was extremely overated and we wouldnt miss it. And he was one of the guys that stalled the ball movement with his numerous iso's. Also, a ton of people drank the Bobcats juice, i wasent one of them. And alot of people bought into the Nets even though they were pretty bad in the regular season and collapsed despite having a veteran team and almost missed the playoffs. Alot of outsiders view got skewed because of the Lewis signing. And some didnt realize the vast improvement of getting rid of Grumpy Hill and signing Stan.

Funny thing, iggyemu actually predicted top 3 seed. Who would have thunk it? lol.

After Battie went down, only homer fans such as ourselves could believe that the Magic could find a starting five. And even there, who was to start at SG was a big question.

Then Turkoglu proved he could start and was not redundant to Lewis. Lewis proved that noght-in-night out he could defend most starting PFs. And in the early season, Bogans was competent as a starter and was replaced in a timely manner by Evans.

Add all of these "ifs" going the Magic's way, alongside the largely avoided injury bug, and the Magic have clearly over achieved this season. But this is why Stan "T" Man ("T" is for "the") was hired. Good coaches get the Max out of their guys.

Coach Mr. T proved his weight. He put the fear of gosh into Nelson to ensure he was an adequate NBA starter. He found a SG rotation after great pains. He trusted Turkolgu and Lewis to tandem. He barked at Howard whenever he was anything less than 100% (a risky move, and often a big no-no, for the coach to discipline the star).

Coach Mr. T is THE reason the Magic are over achievers. And a reason he should get scores of votes for coach of the year. (Doc Rivers and Phil Jackson will get more votes, but that's a different argument to have; if I had a vote, I would tab Eddie Jordan).

I remember I got **** on for saying Miami is gonna suck this year. Wade's injury was a big factor in my decision and they brought in a bunch of pure crap in the off-season and loss several good players.. I really don't know why it was so shocking for some people back then.

I think I predicted that the Magic would do better than last season but predicted only a slight improvement because I was worried about Rashard holding up physically at the PF spot and I thought the Magic would miss Grant Hill more. I certainly did not expect the kind of season that Hedo has had, but that has been a pleasant surprise. I'm always happy when I get pleasant surprises. I have been happy with this season so far. Now I want to see them at least show some progress in the playoffs.
