Maybe we should have made the TMAC trade.

According to GAD, Harris wasn't trying to make the Randolph trade.

What? Kohl nixed it, after Harris presented him with the deal.

According to GAD, it wasn't Harris who made the deal but other members of Kohl's inner circle. Kohl then shot the trade down.

I know of the inner workings GAD is speaking about and I have no reason to doubt the validity of his information in this instance.

As a Redd apologist, my opinion hasn't changed since this rumor starting circulating awhile ago, I would've made that trade in second.

If we made the trade, our team would look like:

PG: Mo Williams/ Royal Ivey
SG: Tracy McGrady/ Charlie Bell
SF: Bonzi Wells/ Desmond Mason/ Bobby Simmons
PF: Yi/ Michael Ruffin
C: Andrew Bogut/ Dan Gadzuric

To me, that team is arguably better than the team McGrady has now in Houston. Only thing is the defense at the SF/PF is still a concern.

Houston would be a mess right now, without Yao, if they made that trade .

I think you mean Bonzi Wells and not Posey and you don't have Yi on the roster. I believe that's a playoff team and a better one then the Bucks have now.

Your right...Bonzi Wells..fixed.

Oh yeah, and apparently CV was a part of the deal. So either Yi or Ruffin starts.

Are there any insiders that can confirm this was indeed a trade that was on the table?

If so, I think we missed the boat on this one, although who knows if Tracy plays as well as he is in Milwaukee.

This team would not have been better than Houston. They play very well, execute well, play defense and they have a very good coach.

I would have done the deal for sure, but I was real worried about Mcgrady's health at the time----if only for the fact that no way do they consider that deal unless the Rockets were real worried about his body holding up.

Mcgrady would be an incredible for us, but it still wouldn't solve our coaching deficiencies and lack of defenders. No way would our team be as good as Houston, but we probably would be good enough to at least make the playoffs in our cruddy conference.

More importantly though, Mcgrady would stabilize the lockerroom and help the development of Bogut, Yi, and even Mo a whole lot. We desperately need a leader committed to defense and team play.

Exactly. Who is to say that Tmac would have been playing this well here?

Rockets just beat the Hornets to make it 18th straight. Simply amazing.

TMAC- 41/9/6 with 2 blocks on 60% shooting.

Yeah with Yao or without they are amazing right now. I thought as soon as the big man was out that they were done but even 67 year old Dikembe Mutumbo is playing well.

I'll say the same thing I said when the rumor first surfaced and something I've said many other times - if the Bucks are going to bring in a proven elite talent he is going to come with issues. No one questions McGrady's talent. He is a superstar talent. However, he does come with issues (mainly his durability concerns) and they are legitimate. However, I think the risk would have been worth it. It's so difficult to get this type of talent so I'd be willing to take on those issues in McGrady's case if it means improving the team. And I think adding McGrady and Wells would have made this team better and possibly significantly so.

If nothing else, it would have given us a reason to actually watch this damn team for the rest of the season.

Bump. I can't believe a team with one All Star, and a bunch of role players have just won 22 straight games.

Unbelieveable.

Elite Talent (TMac)+ Good Pieces (Battier, Scola, Dikembe) +Good Coaching (Adelman)= Success.

We have neither of those 3 components.

Of course you and everyone else was against it...except me.

You all dwelt on is injuries and how he never got his team past the first round and all that bullcrap....

BUT AT LEAST HE WINS GAMES AND GETS HIS TEAM TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!
That is more then you can say for Redd!

I question a lot of so called fans' judgements on talent and who a true
winner is...

Oh God, stop acting as if you're some sort of NBA genius who knows everything and could put together the perfect Bucks team if only anyone would listen. You thought Zach Randolph averaged 3bpg ffs, game over.

For those watching, the Rockets beat the Lakers today with T-Mac scoring 11 points on a terrible shooting %... yeah... he's really doing it entirely on his own.

How about Yi,Simmons,Gadz for TMAC? Then send Mo to Miami for Haslem. Then draft a pg.

draft pick,Ivy,Bell,Sessions
Redd,Bell,Des
TMAC,Des,Bell,CV
Haslem,CV,second rounder
Bogut,Voskul,Ruffin

Or keep Mo and draft the best PF to compete with CV. But with Mo here then there isnt many shots to go around for Bogut since we have Redd/TMAC combo. I think a defensive minded PG would be better suited here then that passes alot gets some steals and maybe shoots 6 times total a game. I think only reason Houston might consider this is if Yao knew this deal would be on the table he push GM to do it. With this trade we kinda have a BIG 3 again in TMAC,Redd,Bogut.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
