Pacers' Tinsley, Daniels won't go to trial after charges dropped from '07 fight
Associated Press

Updated: March 17, 2008, 10:25 AM ET
INDIANAPOLIS --
Indiana Pacers guards Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels avoided a trial Monday on charges stemming from a 2007 bar fight.

Prosecutors agreed to drop all charges if the players stay out of trouble for two years.

Tinsley faced a felony charge of intimidation, and misdemeanor counts of battery, disorderly conduct and intimidation in the fight at the 8 Seconds Saloon in February 2007. Daniels was charged with battery and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

The players also agreed to serve 32 hours of community service.

According to a police report, the manager of the bar said Tinsley threatened to kill him during the fight.

The defense and prosecutors agreed that there was probable cause for arrest and charges to be brought.

Now we're going to go on a 20-game win streak and recapture a spot in the playoffs.

Honestly, this'll be very interesting to see if they can stay out of legal trouble for 2 whole years.

It's so sad that I'm not even being a bit sarcastic with this. Snarky, yes. Sarcastic, no.

I don't see how this is good news in any way. These guys need to learn what accountability is, and this is only going to make them feel even less responsible for their actions.

Well I sure feel better knowing the charges are dropped, it's not that they beat the guy like a red headed stepchild, but rather that they weren't convicted right?

pacerguy how is this good news?

this is the sad reality of pacer basketball.. The only way we have made the news the past 2 years is regarding non-basketball news. This team is a joke. In a way i wish they would of got in trouble so they could be off our team. So this is not good news

^^^You know I wouldn't mind a change of address for JT and Daniels but the best thing for this team and franchise would be if they can stay out of trouble, and play some good basketball. Then maybe we can find someone to take them in a trade. Otherwise what ar you gonna do cut them? You still have to pay them their contracts are gauranteed. If you think their contracts can be voided think again, unless they go away for hard time. Remember Spreewell? He ended up getting paid.

All I ask of JT and Daniels and Shawne as well is to stay out of trouble and play some good basketball, I don't think that's unreasonable. If they do they'll be forgiven, that simple.

I've beaten crap like that before, and i'm a nobody. And i was alot more guilty than they were.
