Alright...I'm gonna say it right now

If Pritchard called Danny Ainge tonight and said, "Brandon Roy for Rajon Rondo"

What would Danny do?

well, yeah, but probably more because as nasty as roy is, hes definitely a 2 and PP and Ray would still be here if we moved rondo

BTW love BRoy. then again, the pre draft threads and threads throughout that college season back up my roy love, i was on him all season that year.

Props on that. I have had to eat my words on Roy quite a bit but I still think he is terribly overrated.

Eric I do find your words ironic. Trust me I think Rondo is a member of the Justic League I know what he can do my point was simply that he can impact the game without scoring the ball, not that he can't do it. He is the 21st century Mo Cheeks. It isn't about your scoring avg when you are a point guard who can impact the game the way Rondo does. That is what messed up Andre Miller, he got caught up in his scoring avg and assist totals because his teams sucked and took away from the player he can be. When I look at Perk's stat line that last thing I look at is his points and someday they will likely be around 18ppg but it isn't what makes the difference.

I just don't think that a team in need of star power is going to give up on a shot at the brass ring for Rondo whether they should or shouldn't. It doesn't matter he isn't going anywhere.

Brandon Roy was my guy that year, but didn't expect him to drop to us...and I still laugh to myself at those that thought Adam Morrison was going to be a better pro... I knew of Rondo, and had an idea that Ainge was going to pick him up considering how many times he had him come in for workouts, but didn't know how it would happen. It's turned out pretty damn well. There aren't too many players in his draft who I'd take over him.

Kind of random, but I was reading the DeAndre Jordan profile on nbadraft.net and his player comparison was Dwight Howard. I looked up his stats and was befuddled...clearly Dwight would have produced FAR better than 8 ppg and 6 rpg (or something like that) as a freshman. Which got me to thinking...I know he was hurt, BUT wouldn't you think that Dwight would have produced at a much higher level than Greg Oden did last season. It could mean nothing, but I always got the impression Oden was far superior to Dwight, now I'm not so sure.

I have always been of the opinion that Oden is potentially Erick Dampier with offense. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, either, because it is pretty damn valuable. Just not as valuable, imo, as Durant can be-- potentially, at least.

I was and still am a big Randy Foye guy, I still think overall it was a garbage draft but Aldridge is going to be really good as well. I really liked Ty Thomas but he is turning out to be a little crazy. I knew Morrison was going to be a mess, I still think he might be good but I knew he was going to struggle to adapt to the NBA.

But I missed the boat on Roy. I thought he was going to be Ron Mercer and he is way more Jalen Rose than I understood, and I loved vintage Jalen Rose. But he is still way overrated.

Rudy Gay is a chump and I actuallyliked him quite a bit coming out. He can win 30 games in a year, if not his career, before I care.

I wanted us to take Rondo at 7.

You and I were the Foye guys that year, just like we were the Jeff Green guys this year, lol. I did think Roy was the best player in the draft, still kinda do, but I think Rondo's the better fit here, no doubt. Foye would have been fine in Boston, but Rondo's the best fit at the point for us out of that draft, IMHO. But I am speaking in hindsight.

this is the impression we were led to, but it is inaccurate. guys who are far superior to players already in the NBA, especially good young ones, are very rare. it is more accurate to say that oden can have a similar impact with less athleticism, but more of a pure 5 and better defense than howard

If he were coming out as a senior right now he'd go 12-15 in my opinion. A team like Sacramento or Denver would jump at him in the later lottery.
I despise fans that cheer on a team from up north or one that resembles a dinosaur. oh wait...

i guess i have a hard time playing this game, because all i can think of is how many guys get drafted in the top 20 that dont nearly pan out, having seen rondo produce and succeed and grow on the curve he has i cant even put him out of the top 10 at my most pessimistic about rondo/optimistic about rose/bayless/gordon/mayo/westbrook

Although I am, and was, a Mo Cheeks fan,

Rondo is better than Mo Cheeks.

And Rajon Rondo will only get better.

People in the lottery are picking there because they lack star power, therefore they are more willing to roll the dice on high risk/reward guys hoping to get a star. Most teams in high the lottery could use a guy like rondo, but wouldn't pick him.
