I personally don't believe a thing that Vescey says. Unless he is talking about it after the fact.

I do. We're not as bad as many think we are. We have a good foundation. I think they need to add a bit and add though the draft and trade some of our assets to gain more depth.

This is one of the worst seasons i can remember being a Pacers fan. And somehow, we're still in the chase for the playoffs. Think about that. If we had Tinsley and O'Neal for the full season we'd be a lock for 6th or 7th seed in the east, which isn't saying much i know because we have a few cancers on the team. We need to add players, the 1-2 big deal, like i said, and add via subtraction. Like cutting loose Tinsley and Harrison. The cancers of the team.

Their not far away guys. I know it's hard to say because each game we watch them play so bad, but their not far away from contending for the 4th seed.

We are 26-41. I dont care how close we are to the 8th seed, that is pathetic. The only reason we are so close is because the East is quite possibly the most pathetic conference in NBA history right now. When you say foundation, who do you mean? By my reasoning, only Granger and maybe Dunleavy could be considered foundation pieces at this point, and they essentially play the same position.

The thing is, we are far away. We have arguably the worst cap situation in the league. We have players we cant give away. We have an alarming lack of legitimate young talent. Yeah, we are 1-2 moves away from competing, but those are 1-2 moves in which we would have to rip off the other team big time and get lucky in the draft and sign a few role players to overachieve. We arent that close. We are close to the playoffs, sure, but that isnt saying much of anything in the East. The 4th seed isnt anything to brag about in the East. I am not content with that either. I want us to compete for titles, not be happy that we are the 4th seed in the East.

I wouldn't mind trading Granger for a top 10 pick this year. We need to put Dunleavy where he is most comfortable, and that position is the same position Danny plays (Danny is more tradeable and we could get more than what he is worth). In that case, we could draft Eric Gordon and also Draft Mayo. Look at this depth chart though just after this trade (assuming we don't sign our free agents)

Mayo/Diener
Gordon/Daniels
Dunleavy/Williams
O'Neal/Diogu
Foster/Murphy

Thats a good young team. Of course though, we would probably trade O'Neal, and get even more draft picks or young players. I didn't put Tinsley in there because at this point I don't even think its possible he will be back next season, especially since i'm sure he is the reason attendance is so low.

I'm guessing that Danny already is and will continue to be a better player than between 5 and 7 of the top 10 picks...if you narrow it down to the latter half of the top 10, there's not a player I'd trade him for.

I think the only way you could convince me to move Danny for a pick this year is if you guaranteed me Rose.

EDIT: I'm all for adding good players, but if we're moving our best young player to get another young player, it just strikes me as a zero sum game.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

He was right alot more time then that. I remember he was the first to get the Tinlsey story correct, everyone else had false info but his report was the true one... also he had us talking to Golden State while nobody had us making a blockbuster deal last year. And then Dunleavy and Muprhy were here....

Which Tinsley story was he right about?

He also had us talking to GS in the Artest deals, but he didn't have us talking to GS in the Jackson/Harrington deal until well after the deal had been reported nationally by other outlets.

If they do let go of Bird, which i personally don't see for 2 reasons. 1. I don't think he is doing that bad of a job and i think he's just a deal or two away from making us big winners again, we're not that far from being a top 4 team in the east. But also 2. It's Larry Bird. It's a slap in the face to fire the "legend". No way. In the era of negative PR that has killed our team, i don't think they will go to the extreme and fire him. It'd be a PR hell.

If they do fire him, i wouldn't mind Marc Jackson OR Scott Skiles named coach, like the article mentions that Walsh could bring one of them to the Garden to coach the Knicks. I wouldn't mind either of those 2 in Indianapolis.

I have some real estate I want to sell you  .

Just kidding, But bad PR or no BIRD HAS TO GO, and lets hope D Walsh stays.
