OT: Skype?

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Tue Mar 18, 2008 5:55 am

So I hate cell phones and cell plans. My two year contract is up and I'm not going this route again. My first thought was to just get a landline and sign up for one of those TV/Internet/Phone packages. If I could get the TDS telecom bundle where I'm living I'd do that; it's outstanding.

But I've been looking into Skype and the more I read the more I like. I'm the type of person that does almost all my communication via e-mail. If I spend 15 minutes on the phone in any given month that's a lot. But there are always the times when using a phone is probably going to be necessary. Skype looks to be cheap and easy. I'd probably even buy one of the mobile skype phones that would allow me to make and receive calls wherever I'm around a WiFi access point.

Anyone here use it?

I think they say that you're supposed to have a hard-line in case of emergency. The chances may (hopefully) be remote, but that's why I've kept my bare-bones home phone for the past few years.

Skype instant messenger is free. I knew some video game clans used it to tell people where the campers are in a war games when there dead. They used skype instead of the in game mics. Cause if your dead you cant talk to the living. Alot of crazy cheaters out there for games.

I use skype a lot because my brother lives in Hong Kong and I like it a lot. I bought a logitech hand set and it works ok, but I mainly use the computer client.
