there is a reason all of those guys are available.
It's like going to a club to pick up girls and finding a few ugly ones holding up the wall with no guys trying to get at them.
but on the other hand sure why not waste a few million dollars on one of those stiffs that wont leanr our offense in time for playoffs!
However there is Green and he's a guy who is young and has potnetial and upside, maybe scoop him up before someone else does. but of course we wont be able to get any burn out of him for a few years.
perhaps it's best to just stick with what we have and let our guys at the end of the bench take advantage of the ijuries and get some PT

this really sucks with those choices. and this is really a team that is deep with some bigmen. stack bynum, pau and ariza in there, and thats an athletic front. lengthy. and can defend anywhere inside or on the perimeter.
if weve gotta go big, newble seems to be the best choice.
but hey, maybe we can resurrect kandiman and throw his lifeless body in there to . . . to . . . well, to look like a board standing in the way or somethin.

like you said there is a reason these guys haven't been picked up, if green was going to be good, wouldn't he be on a team right now

We NEED Dale Davis RIGHT NOW...
I never thought I would be saying this but WE NEED Dale Davis right now to play .500 ball with all these injuries... He is the best option out in the market and will bring TOUGHNESS, boards and blocked shots... He is five times as good as DJ and is 6'11"...
We NEED a big man with a mean streak to use all six of his fouls PATROLLING the paint... He is meeting with Houston therefore appears open to coming back... Waive Coby and get Newble (Ariza insurance) and DD... Get it done Mitch...

I think youre confusing a North American basketball player with a South African cricketer.

Gerald's made a few comments about how highly he regards Kobe, and he seems to genuinly look up to him (if you look at his history, Gerald's always seemed to bring a little extra for the Lakers).
He's immature, inconsistent, not capable of playing particularly good defense at this point (he looks solid man to man at times, but if he isn't fully focused it can be brutal), and isn't going to blow by anyone with his first step/handle to get into the lane. What he can do right now is shoot the ball, particularly from deep, and coming off of screens. That's pretty valuable in the triangle, and he could be a pretty effective guy shooting open 3s and getting out in transition. For all the "attitude" problems that are brought up, they all go back to him losing focus too easily, he's a guy who's been genuinely liked by his teammates. He's a hard worker, but he looses focus too easily and gets distracted from his goals. With the right coach, the right system, and the right guys around him, he can be turned into a very effective shooter capable of scoring in a Rip Hamilton like style...but he's a bit of a project. I think he'd be a sound long term investment for the Lakers (of course I'm bias, but I don't say that about Gerald for every team...), and for the right now he can provide some shooting/spark scoring.

can someone tell me how green does defensively?I have not heard anything good about his defense. But with the lack of defense we really need that hardnose defender, either in the paint or out on the perimeter. newble from what i remember seeing of him, played kobe for most of the night when we played the cavs switching with lebron(then lebron took over at the end with the assignment). But if he is able to play decent defense against kobe i would be happy to have them on our team just to hold someone other wing out. anybody think getting a center on a 10 day is the right move right now?
