a ray of hope for tonight

Post#1 » by snaquille oatmeal » Tue Mar 18, 2008 9:57 pm

the Lakers lost the conference's top spot to Houston on Sunday afternoon. By Sunday night, though, many Lakers were already pushing past their third loss in four games. In a rare occurrence, five team members, led by Kobe Bryant, were back in the gym just hours after losing a game.

Bryant played all but the last minute of the game in Houston and attempted 33 shots, the most by anyone in an NBA non-overtime game this season. He was so sapped afterward that he nearly fell asleep in the training room and was so hungry he tried in vain to get Toyota Center locker-room attendants to scrounge up some fast food for him.

By the time the Lakers' charter plane got to Dallas on Sunday night, Bryant was ready to get back at it and made arrangements for after-hours access to the Mavericks' practice court. Jordan Farmar, Derek Fisher, Sasha Vujacic and Luke Walton joined him. Bryant estimated they stayed in the gym from 8:30-10:30 p.m.

I know they all had bad shooting nights, but Houston was lights out from 3. Partially because the perimeter D sucked hard. They need to work on the defense.

Agree, in addition Kobe needs to dish the ball more. Our guards need to play better D out there. And front court needs to step up scoring in the paint.

This is where Champions are made off; Kobe needs to do his thing now.

"Jordan Farmar, Derek Fisher, Sasha Vujacic and Luke Walton joined him. Bryant estimated they stayed in the gym from 8:30-10:30 p.m."

If I had to guess which four teammates joined Kobe, those are the dudes I'd pick. They're the salt of the Lakers.

I would also add Ronni to that list.

funny true story:
a few weeks ago the Suns were getting blown away and Shaq was stinking it up big time so I went to the Suns board on the low down read their game thread. some Suns fan who thought was original kept complaining about why "snaquille oatmeal" didn't stay in Miami and rott with the heat or something. I posted "WTF did I do" and got a few laughs.

They should've put a bag over Lamar's head and drag him with them.

great find snaq.

it sure is good to hear that kobe has gotten some of the troops out there to work on their game even with a loss. thats a team and a leader. for the others i have no words to say. like where is vlad working on his game with them? how to cover teh pick n roll or what. but regardless i am happy to see that we arent down on ourselves for teh two losses. lets go lakers!

good read but the best part is:

Andrew Bynum has had no adverse reactions to the light treadmill work he began last week, important because there was concern that pain or swelling in his left knee might set him back. There remains some hope Bynum will get back in early April, and Jackson said: "He's making the progress that we think is real good."
