Unless Jameer grows six inches & learns how to fight over a screen (honestly it's PAINFUL to watch his P&R defense), then his backcourt mate needs to be a Shane Battier defender/shooter type... Corey certainly has the the tools to play this role, but my impression of his career thus far has not yielded those kind of results.

Maggette is a fit because the Magic do not have a go to guy. Currently, the Magic have three starters that "chip in" 20 ppg. But none has a particularly dominant "move." Unbelievably, there is actually space for a forth 20 ppg guy on the Magic starting roster.

What if:
Nelson - 12 ppg
Maggette - 18 ppg
Turkoglu - 19 ppg
Lewis - 21 ppg
Howard - 22 ppg
Bench - 27 ppg

That sums to 119 ppg. (of course these averages exclude injury minutes, so let's call it 110 ppg).

Maggette is an offensive fit and is not a defensive liability.

I think adding Maggette would mean:

More assists for Nelson
Less points for Turkaglu
No effect on Rashard
No effect on Dwight
Less points from bench
One hell of a dangerous team

You're telling me Maggette will pass up his first significant raise to take a pay cut from Orlando, a pay cut which potentially could leave him with half of what he could make by staying in L.A.? He smiled when asked about free agency because it's an opportunity for him to make more money, not less.

Unfortunately for us, this is how I feel as well.

I'd love for him to say "I'd love to play in Orlando; I'll take the MLE", but I just don't see it happening.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't doubt his desire to play for Orlando. If he were to wind up here, I'm sure it'd have to be via some other means (i.e. sign-and-trade).

Lets get this Clippers nonsense out of here. Maggette wont want to stay with them because they suck, and will down the line. He could get a BIG pay day from more than just the Clip Joint, and with a team that has a better chance to win.

If Maggette wants a ring, he'll come here.

Many NewRicans in NYC.

Got to imagine that there would be many many marketing opportunities for him there.

could be the reason that Latin night coincidentally was when we played them.

or that it was the game we knew we'd have a good enough lead so we can actually play him

I think last year or maybe the year before Mags said something like this where he may or would like to return to Orlando.

But the only way I see we get Mags is his decision on if he wants the dough somewhere else or if hes tired of losing and would like to be apart of the wide open East where right now without him we are the 3rd seed, imagine how good we would be with him.

It would be a nasty lineup, if he signed and Battie coming back thats nice right there. PS Mags feet are the smallest I've ever seen.

Er uh, am I the only person who thinks that Magette could very well end up with the Magic and get the money he's looking for???

Look Magz is going to get his money one way or another. The clips will want something in return for him and if he tells LA that he's willing to sign for the MLE with another team, they might be inclined to do a Magette for JJ Redick/Bogans/Player 3 trade.

And if I was a clipper fan...I'd be terrified at our future....

1. Our coach is almost ready to leave (and with other opportunities opening up, it's quite possible)

2. Our star PF can bolt this summer

3. Our Leading Scorer is leaving....

4. Our amazing point guard prospect might not ever be the same again...

5. Our franchise is on the shoulders of Chris Kaman

and before you give me the whole Kaman is a beast argument, think of this...

If Brand couldn't do it....do you think that he even has a chance??????

LOL I can see it now....

With the 4th pick in the NBA Draft, the clippers select....Brook Lopez

I'd love Corey Maggs to come back to Orlando, he'd be a hell of an upgrade at the 2 spot. Realistically, I think he probably likes Orlando but will go with whoever pays him more. I could be wrong though, reports of Maggette wanting to come back here have resurfaced almost every year since he was traded. That would be one hell of a coup for us to grab him @ mid level dough.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Maggette could will make Hedo less productive..IDK..The idea of Josh Childress intrigued me and think he's a better fit.

As far as Jason Williams..I want no part in him..he's in a suit more than uniform..he has one of the worst shot selection in the NBA (he takes 3's on a 5 on 1 fast break) He's washed up..don't let his peformance vs. us for granted. He is simply just not a good player to have.

God, please no. Nate is the only player I honestly despise in the entire NBA.

In the case of Maggs. He's a strong offensive player who will slash his way to the post and get his points. He's more effective that way. Which means he will draw fouls and get to the line frequently. His defense is pretty good. Maybe not like Shane Battier, but it's efficient enough. Just don't rely on Maggs to be consistant from beyond the arc. He's streaky out there at best. Also about Maggs is that he's a capable rebounder at his position like Kerry Kittles when he was with the Nets.
