what year doesnt the experts have us out of the playoffs.....if you thought we would suck before the year then you shouldn't be pissed about this season other wise you are just disagreeing with for sake of doing so.

Day wasnt a PG,when we had Day at SG Eric Murdock was our PG.If I recall Sherman Douglas actually came to Milwaukee as part of the Todd Day trade.

And you left out Haywood Workman in '99,he was actually pretty solid.But to this day when I think of Workman I think to myself ''call timeout!!''



Looking back at those 90's lottery Bucks they are similar to the current Bucks in that some of those guys wernt realy terrible basketball players they just wernt starting caliber players on good basketball teams,but they had to start on theMilwaukee Bucks.

Guys like Blue Edwards,Eric Murdock,Sherman Douglas ect ect where decent players off the bench on good teams but mediocre starters and starters on bad teams.

The big difference back then though was at least we wernt paying those guys big money as we struggled to win 30 games like we are now.

Most had the Bucks as either a 7th or 8th seed or just missing out on the playoffs.

Granted no one even most Bucks expected much out of the Bucks this season but the fact we are going to be lucky to hit the 30 win mark is a joke,ecpsecially when you consider how weak the east has been this season overall.

I wasnt optimistic at all prior to the season,matter of fact if I remember correct I was one of the least optimistic on this board going into this season and I picked 38-44 and just missing the 8th seed.

Looking back that prediction seems lofty based on how things have gone this season.

I dont know whats worse though,picking the Bucks to win 38 games or saying with 38 wins we'd miss the playoffs,turns out after all 38 wins might get you the 6th seed this year.


My point is no one expected big things from the Bucks but I dont think anyone expected us to be quite this bad either.

I'm not pissed. In fact I was actually worried the team might be around that .500 level earlier in the year. I couldn't be happier with the way this season has gone. Though, I guess they could have Miami's record right now. That'd be aces.

Yea you have to able to back it up,to me being brash and talking trash ect are part of sports (ecspecially basketball) but its something you have to earn to a certian to degree by backing it up.

And there are two types of that in my opinion.

1.You have guys with swagger and a high level of confidence that comes across as cocky but its done more to fire up his own team and the home crowd than to be cocky towards the opponet,I think Damon Jones was a good example of that.I also think Cassell was sort of like that as well,his swagger was also more of a thing for his teammates to fed off of.

2.Then you have guys who are showboats and trash talk more to intimidate or try to make the opponet lose focus,and I dont have a problem with that as long as you back it up.Dieon Sanders was a good example of that like you mentioned.

Michael Irvin was also a guy like that and i'll use here as an example, even though I hate the Cowboys and it was frustrating as a Packer fan seeing him dance in those playoff games vs the Packers when the Packers where getting their ass kicked I didnt have a problem with him doing those things.

And I got into arguments with fellow Packer fans over this back in those days.

I figured hey the guy has rings on his fingers and he makes big plays in the big games,he has earned the right to talk some trash and dance in the end zone.

You want to stop him from doing those things stop him from making big plays.Sure it was frustarting and it pissed me off as a Packer fan during those games but its part of the game,at least in my opinion.

Ahamd Carrol was a joke & for the record the Cowboys kicked the Packers ass fair & square in the '93 & '94 playoffs,but we got screwed in '95,Ed Hocule was on Jerry Jones' pay roll that day.

But thats a a topic for a different day and different board.

One aspect though that i think is vital with cocky athletes and/or guys with swagger is they have to be a good teammate also, not just be mostly out for yourself.

I remember kinda disliking Deion Sanders until i watched a show about him. They interviewed past teammates and it surprised me a bit at just how well they spoke about Deion as person and teammate. In fact, Favre was interviewed and he mentioned how as a rookie 3rd string QB, he was shocked when Deion invited Brett to go fishing with him. Numerous other players were interviewed and all raved how Sanders would look out for and help the rookies along with how Deion was nothing like in person as he was on the field. They all said he was a very humble hard working guy that just once he hit the field, prime time came out and he wanted badly to win and put on a show.

My beef with TJ Ford is i question if he's good for a locker room unless he's perfectly happy with his role. I don't see a great guy who just has some swagger, i see an easily angered guy who can turn bitter when he feels slighted by anyone. His body language can turn ugly quick and that's what made me sour on him more than anything else. Now it seems Toronto is feeling some of that same angry wrath that's in TJ and it's what causes him to change his game on the court from splendid pass first speed demon, to pissed off i'm not passing to anyone out of spite TJ Ford.

I guess fan expectation would differ depending on who you asked but the attitude of the franchise and what they told the fans was the exact same as it is now.

The attitude going into each season from the Bucks front office in the 90's was ''we are young and improving and despite rebuilding and being young we have the goal of getting to the playoffs now and buling on that in the future''.

And like now it was total bull$****.

TJ was a revelation his first year here. Since then...not so much.

In a perfect world, we would have kept him, put Mo at SG, Redd at SF, and traded for Zach Randolph this season. That would have made Bogut expendable, so we could have moved him to open up more playing time for Gadzooks. Now THAT would have been aces.

As a raptor fan, I think Colangelo made a mistake with this trade.

His whole basis was that
Bargnani > Villanueva
But
Bargnani < Villanueva


But I dont blame TJ. He thrives in a starting role but Calderon had played too well to be put back on the bench.
TJ has struggled for the past couple games, but the whole TEAM has struggled for the past 5 going 0-5. This is why he errupted. He was tired of losing and our team is as soft as they come, he aside from bosh, is the toughest player on our team. I honestly love his game, hes fierce and determined, and he plays with heart.


I think Colangelo might just sign and trade Jose this offseason... Hes known to make the unexpected move. And TJ will once again silence the haters next season. Hopefully Bryan can work something out to get Charlie back in a Raps uniform too heheh, 3way with Miami maybe?
