OT-How about those Houston Rockets?

Post#1 » by basketballwacko2 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 3:50 am

22 straight wins, and how? They lose Ming for the season and keep right on rolling. They have a bunch of role players and McGrady, some 50 year old dude at center, some guy named Alston at pg, who the hell is Scola? and Novak? Look at them they just win. The Rockets were bearly 500 when this streak started and they look like they might be the best team in the West.

Maybe 15 players who play for the Pacers should look at the Rockets as an example. We have almost as much talent on this team, what is the difference here? Attitude maybe? Maybe the Rockets just want it more.

We're going in the tank again this season and the Rockets are going to the playoffs on a roll. Rocket fans should be proud of their team.

Maybe we will clean house this summer  we can only pray for that. Then we can have something to be proud of again.

Shane Battier, too.

I saw the Lakers game today. One big thing we are missing is a defensive force like Shane Battier. We had one once, but he kinda went crazy. We don't have a lockdown guy like that right now, but we have some solid defenders, like Granger.

Also, the biggest difference I notices was that there was ball movement, passion, and really awesome sparks. We get stuck in a cycle. Miss shots, lose confidence, pass off the ball so the clock winds down, miss a contested shot with the clock ticking down, or don't wait for the clock and force something. The Rockets had people who KNEW they could score, and KNEW that it was up to them to pick up T-Mac's 0-9 slack.

Rafer Alston is playing out of his mind! The talks (on the trae boards anyway) that had the Pacers interested/ he was available, looks like a good non-move for Houston now.

Also, how about Denver l/n vs Seattle! 4 of 4 Q's > 40 pts! (48 in Q1!!!)

1 2 3 4 Total

Seattle 29 29 27 31 116 Final

Denver 48 36 43 41 168

haha i was just gonna post that too. Crazy NBA season. One of the best MVP races in recent memory (Kobe vs. James) and the chase in the west in unreal. EVERY single night there's a game out west that has importance to the standings.

Denver i think is a team that is NOT build for regular season and will always finish 6th or lower in standings but always will give teams a run for an upset, in round 1 and 2. Their a playoff build team. They lack the big man to compete this year though.

And to add to the Rockets post, not only are they 22-0 in last 22, but they are winning without Yao Ming but also, in their last 10 victories, they'ved outscored the opponent by atleast 8 in each. They are not just winning with lucky buckets late in the game, they are winning easily.

Rick Adelman for coach of the year for sure i think. When the Kings fired him i remember alot of people say that was odd and ESPN kill them for it and looks like they were right. I bet the Kings wish they had Adelman back. lol

Some good commentary on my points here. Alston is clearly much better than anyone around the NBA thought he was I've liked him since way back, I recall he was said to have an attitude problem. Maybe his attitude was he hates to lose! And Battier is a really good player gotta love his hustle and defense. I'm thinking the Rockets are just a bunch of hard nosed, gutsy players who can overcome adversity rather than laydown and die. Looks like they have some players who believe in themselves and each other, rather than the "Nanny State." Where it ok to be a failure, where it's not "your" fault if you lose. This Rockets team is a testimate to personal responsibility. Did they go out and get a prescription for Prozac when Yau went out for the season, no! Did they go belly up and sink into the tank for another Lottery pick, hell no they're gonna make some noise and maybe go deep in the playoffs.

Don't forget CP3 in the MVP race. He is absolutely amazing. I still think it goes LeBron-Kobe-CP3 though.

^^ totally right. Chris Paul is out of this world with his skills. And while we're at it, Kevin Garnett isn't a push over either.

13-11 early on Boston. Houston looks very nervous and jumpy. This has the atmosphere of a playoff game and Houston seems more nervous then Boston but keeping it close. Their defense is what makes this team special.

To be honest, since everyone else is, i never liked Alston and never thought he'd be a player a team would need to be good. Maybe from the bench. Boy was i wrong?

Also, Mutombo? Umm yeah, what type of steroids does that guy take? LOL j/k but he's playing great defense even at age 41. He looks same like the old Mutombo on defense, on offense you can see his age.

Luis Scola is unreal though. His vision with the ball and his defense. incredible. How did the Spurs let that guy walk.... ?

ive always liked alston, but kinda in the same way i like tinsley. both are great talents but ive never thought either could play on a highly successful team and play team ball consistently.

and i think the spurs letting scola walk was due to the fact that he would not have gotten a ton of time and they did not want to disrupt chemistry, though it is easy to see they should have gotten more than a late second round pick for him.

^^ very true.

Rockets ran out of gas in the 2nd half. McGrady a horrid game. 8 points.

Celtics run the Rockets out of the gym.

I wouldn't mind LeBron James go to the finals again.

Big game tonight, Pistons @ Cavs on ESPN.

yea that game should be interesting. id like to see how lebron does against the pistons and if his new teammates help him at all.

i cant say id mind lebron going, although id much rather see the magic. i just want the pistons to win the east so we can have a competitive finals. i just dont see the cavs being able to put up much of a fight with any of the top 6 teams in the west, and maybe not even the other 2.
