i think i'm one of the few that still actually likes marvin's potential. i think he still has great upside. he is getting better every year. i dont think he'll ever be that superstar that many predicted. he's smart, has a beautiful shot and is efficient. i think he can be as good as deng. maybe a 20ppg, 7rpg type combo forward. the best thing he can do at this point is start to carve out an identity to his game, whether that means focusing more on defense, rebounding, point forward or scoring. he has come with something other than being decent all-around.
i'd trade our first for him, as long as it wasnt top 3.
i think marvin would be a good fit playing with okafor and wallace in the front court. this would allow marvin to guard pfs on defense and allow wallace to play closer to the basket on offense. marvin would help spread the defense with his shooting, much in the way herrmann was doing last season.
what center would you be looking to draft with a pick in the 4-10 range? lopez? hibbert? jordan?

Thx for the info.. Because were are in need for a center that can block shots, rebound, play post defense and can play up tempo game. Hasheem Thabeet is getting a lot of love on our site. He's raw, but there's also rumors that Larry Brown maybe our next head coach and he's good at player development

Ew, I don't see the appeal at all. Another athletic wing? What's the point? We need a guy who will bang in the paint, not an all-around rangy guy. This year he's taken a step forward, but he's still only an average player at best.
Our first round pick would be CRAZY. I would think hard before I'd give up Dudley for him.

upon further review, i'd like to pass.
marvin will be due for a contract extension soon. we'd be better off drafting a player who can put up similar numbers for much less money. if marvin was able to define a role in the upcoming months and playoffs - scorer, rebounder, defender etc... then maybe he'd be worth it but as of now he could only net a pick in the 8-15 range... but with okafor's extension coming this summer and ray next summer, i just dont think we can afford to add another role player. we need a star. period.
