After we miss the playoffs
I posted this on the ttrade board as well
A Complete Rebuild, now I know most of these scenarios are pipe dreams, but hey a guy can still dream right
Trade 1:
Jason Kidd for Gilbert Arenas (S&T) and Darius Songalia
Not saying this could happen, but what if Gilbert got a good offer elsewhere, the Wizards have done well without him and with this trade they get to see what Butler and Jamison can do with Kidd for a year, and dump Songalia's deal without losing Arenas for nothing.
Trade 2:
Dirk Nowitzki for Amare Stoudemire
Phoenix has no choice but to win now, Amare and Shaq in a way clog up the lane for one another, here Nash and Nowitzki can continue their love affair, Dirk may compliment Shaq better anyways, and Dallas gets a PF who can attack the rim.
Trade 3:
Jason Terry for Marquis Daniels, Travis Diener
Indy can try and rebuild their image while getting a player who could work well with Dunleavy and O'Neal, Dallas gets a 2G who plays well with Howard and can feed off Arenas much like Hughes did with similar skill sets
Trade 4:
Jerry Stackhouse for Eric Snow
Just a salary dump, Cleveland gets a vet with playoff and crunch time experience, Dallas gets an expiring.
2008-2009 Dallas Mavericks:
Eric Dampier/2nd Rounder or FA
Amare Stoudemire/Brandon Bass/Darius Songalia
Josh Howard/Antoine Wright
Marquis Daniels/Eddie Jones
Gilbert Arenas/Travis Dienier/Eric Snow

Trade 3 is horrible. Trade 2 is boarderline horrible if Kidd is traded for Arenas (Kidd + Amare > Arenas + Amare). Trade 4 is usless as Stack's last year is only 2 mil guaranteed. And as much as I don't like Kidd, Arenas I hate even worse as PG. He needs to follow Roy, Wade, Iverson & Kobe and don't act like they are a PG when they are not! But saying that, I'd pull that trade simpley because Arenas may be better trade bait come dealine time than Kidd would get (because there is no wayu I want to enter a post season with Arenas as a starter).

I agree with JES, if we trade Dirk for Amare then Kidd needs to stay. I think it's pretty safe to say Dirk isn't going anywhere as long as Cuban is here though. 3 and 4 are just trades for the sake of making trades and they don't help us on the court at all.

the team. actually, I didn't mean that I'm advocating that. I'm undecided on what the heck we should do before next season. i don't think you can judge a big shakeup like this fairly after a month. but it sure seems like everybody else wants to see it blown up.

Problem is we had a decent team before, just didnt have the balls to trade the beloved Stack/Terry. Those guys, who were strictly jump shooters, and one dimensional players were the problems, not our passing, ball movement, ect.
Now we just traded a young up and coming PG in Harris for Kidd, so there is no way we trade him next year (even if we decide to rebuild, we'd just let him contract expire). Dirk is not going anyway, and rightfully so I think. Honestly, Im very scared for the direction of this team right now.

it is my contention that Jason Kidd is untradeable except for an instance where you get a bona fide PG back who is all star calibre or you're getting a top 5/top 10 NBA player like Kobe to pair with Dirk and a journeyman PG will suffice in such a situation
other than that this team has handicapped itself at the PG spot.
if you trade Kidd you've got a journeyman who can play 12-15min per night, an untested 2nd year player who may or may not be able to take over, and a PG/SG tweener that has played PG in the past for the team with very limited success.
trade Kidd and you have to get a ball handler in that trade or be able to go sign one immediately
