Tracy Mcgrady vs Allen Iverson, New Team
IF you were to build a team from scratch who would you build around?
T-mac or AI

AI needs a great defensive center to be very successful as evident by only making it to the finals when Mutumbo arrived, and now needing Camby. T-Mac is easier to build around, all-though no team has done it right yet. Right now I pick T-Mac to build around, but if i was one player away from a championship, I take AI, because he is being more efficient this year than he has ever been IMO, I'm sure some guy will post stats that prove me wrong. AI is just playing so smart this year.
Build around T-Mac, but if i had an already established team, I would take AI.

Because, y'know, Yao can't be considered a great center...

When did i mention anything about Centers with T-Mac? T-Mac doesn't need a great center, the Rockets would be much better with AI on their team, and the Nuggets would be better with T-Mac.
If T-Mac didn't have injury concerns i would say that would be a perfect trade for both teams and would make each team better.

T-Mac is not at AI's level.
Can anyone tell me what exactly AI does better than McGrady?
At their respective peaks McGrady was the better scorer, defender, playmaker, rebounder - and he did it all while being more efficient
(exceptions are 05-06/03-04 when McGrady missed significant time due to injury) from the floor and playing less minutes.
McGrady has been the better playoff performer... Iverson basically gets a pass thanks to one year of his career.

Prime - Tracy McGrady
Current - AI.... t-mac just had an 8 point game yesterday... his scoring has fallen off drastically, and it has nothing to do with the team around him...he simply cannot create a shot for himself on a superstar level, and it's not like he's any more efficient at this point.

So what exactly has TMAC accomplished without a dominant Center next to him?

Carried a team to the playoffs, which is more than what AI did, considering his teams sucked until he got Ratliff, then eventually Mutombo, and now Camby. AI has only lead his team to a winning record once without a defensive big man, while T-Mac has done it multiple times without it.
Maybe you haven't noticed the winning streak they have gone on without a dominant big man, as well? Unless you count Mutombo playing 20 mpg as a factor.
So T-Mac has accomplished exactly what Dirk or any other 2nd level star has accomplished without a dominant big man, which is lead his team to the playoffs, have a great individual season, and then make it all pointless.
None of these players are winning championships as number #1 options anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Can you explain to me why McGrady has lead the Rockets to a better record than the Nuggets two years in a row without Yao?SuigintouEV wrote:Prime - Tracy McGrady

It has something to do with T-Mac.

I don't know for sure, but I've watched some Rockets games the last few weeks and I don't see T-mac as the main reason for their success. Part of it, yes, most no. I think the whole team is playing very well together and Aldeman has done a terrific job. If I had to pick an MVP on that team it would be Alston and the overall team defense.
T-mac hasn't done anything for me to get excited about in his career and the injuries would bother me. Iverson hasn't done much either but still more than T-mac.
I think T-Mac has the physical stature advantage to help my team more, but AI is relentless with more heart and plays through injuries.
Overall I would take AI at this point. He has been more efficient and would be probably easier to coach now then he was back in the day.
You couldn't go wrong with either though...Two amazing talents.

I don't think it's AI fault in Denver. It's just a **** deal for him that looks good on paper, but really isn't.
I also don't think T-mac is the sole reason for the Rockets success either like everyone claims to think it is.
