Cheer...the best of Iverson's career came out in his pre game press conference. He was very realistic in discussing his situation in Philly, acknowledging his fault, as well as his successes. He's finally grown up, wonder if he'd still be here if he'd grown up earlier??

Anyone who would actually boo him should be slapped.

There will be a segment on NBA shootaround after the commercial with Ai and Stephen A Smith talking about his departure.

AI is Philadelphia. He was meant to play here, but he was also meant to win a title here.

In addition.. watching him kiss the floor makes you remember how much AI loved this franchise and this town, and how loyal he was. AI will never be a Nugget in my book, just a hired gun.

AI was a warrior, but this comment is a bit strong.

I would hope you'd shoot a bit higher for your city identity. He's a great talent, but also carried a lot of baggage/flaws while in Philadelphia. I was very impressed with his pregame press conference and that he's finally really grown up. While in Philly, he was as much the problem as 'the answer'.

He deserved the ovation, he deserves praise, he gave everything he had while he was here on the court, but he was as much a controversial figure as a positive figure. I just don't think the Philadelphia version of Iverson is what you should equate you city's identity to...he really seems more mature at this point of his life, hopefully he gets his title somewhere and hopefully he continues to be a more positive all around figure.

I'm really impressed with Iverson right now...he's handled this moment very well...a long cry from the 'practice' press conference.

I'm sorry. Anytime your franchise player refuses to give his all, requests to be traded, and plays well in another city he deserves to be booed.

Exactly why it's a valid representation. There's a lot of gray area in everyone, nobody's perfect. Nobody typifies this more than AI, who has very admirable traits, and very aggravating traits.

Props to Philly for giving Allen a very deserving reception. I got goose bumps watching the highlights.

That was great, Philly isn't an easy town to capture the hearts of the fans, and I absolutely love Allen, and I'm glad to see Philly remembers all the great times, and isn't acting bitter.

Classy fans, big props

Thanks for the kind words. Outsiders know that AI was huge here, but unless you live here it is hard to grasp how much Philly adores him. Philly adores AI more than any one town adores any NBA player right now.

I think he is the most popular player in the history of this town, and that is saying a lot.

Nobody is perfect, that goes without saying...but this is the best reference for the city? If he acted then, like he does now, I'd probably have no problem with this reference. The NBA has gone to +/- references now...he used to be a - when you looked at the big picture. He's now really appears to be a ++ all the way around.

Big picture, I honestly am so glad he handled himself the way he did last night...it was nice closure to his Philadelphia story. It's really nice to see someone grow up so much. Classy act last night...

Did anyone else read anything more into his comments about changing his plans and not selling his house?? He can opt out this year!!

Could you imagine AI opting out and choosing to settle for our cap space to sign a 3-year deal to come back?

Hmmm.....
