Haywood is one of the best post defenders in the league and he proved it once again last night when he shut down Dwight Howard and made superman look like Christopher Reeves.
It's a shame when fans of a team can't give another team their earned respect. We have been playing all year minus an all-star starter, minus Etan Thomas( a man who owned Dwight Howard last year, kept him under 10 pts and blocked him 5 times in one game look it up for those short on memory), 1/3 rd of the season minus all-star Butler, and the whole season with a nicked up team.
I'm a fan of both teams but I'm shocked by some of the comments in here. Imagine going the whole season minus Dwight Howard, 1/3rd of it minus Turk, the whole season minus a good role player big man, and the whole season with a nicked up team and tell me what your record would be. Then imagine every time you win the fans of other teams make up a million excuses and complain about the refs. The refs have been screwing us since the tip off this season because we have no superstar with Arenas out and we aren't a media darling.
Haywood is one of the best post defenders in the NBA, I have seen almost every game he has played in his career and he has improved so much over the years. He is also one of the best free throw shooters at center and doesn't get the calls a Dwight Howard gets. He works for everything he gets and is a fan favorite this year because of his 100 percent effort unlike years past. Keep eating with ESPN is feeding you, just because Haywood isn't talked about a lot doesn't mean he isn't one of the best post defenders in the NBA. Tim Duncan even came out and said Haywood was the most underrated defender in the NBA. The players can tell you who the great defenders are more than some posters on RealGM.

No one is looking for sympathy but we deserve our respect. We knocked you off minus Arenas, an all-star starter, one of the best 5 players in the East. I'm tired of people down playing what we are doing this year. I can't remember the last time a team had so many injuries to key players yet remain in the playoff race.

I watch every Wizards game. Believe me when I tell you that Haywood almost never flops. He occassionally draws charges because he has good position and guys run into him, but he never falls on the ground to try to get the whistle.
Haywood is an exceptional post defender. He might be the best post defender in the league. This is not an exagerration. He completely owns most low post threats like Curry, Z and Jefferson. Haywood's not perfect. He has problems against mobile bigs like Camby; and guys like Brad Miller who can stick a jumper can hurt him. But Haywood is about as good as it gets at defending the post.
hey nate do u have haywood's opponent per stats? ive been looking everywhere but i cant find them. i bet those numbers would help magic fans understand y we think he is such a good defender.

so even if he says he does it, that means he doesnt?

congrats...you have the most underrated player in the league...
top F/A in 2010, Brendan Haywood...
Even more so than Kapono aka the greatest shooter in the history of the game?

Whose that guy in your avatar?
But yes the Wiz deserve credit for doing as well as they have been doing this season. One would think that this would lower the chances of you giving Gil the max (other than a S&T).

Credit to the wiz. They played a terrific game. The Magic played a horrible game...as individuals and as a team. I think that after the utter smashing the Magic gave them at wash, the wiz had some payback on their minds and the Magic played down to the comp (a chief complaint here). Unfortunately for the wiz, Howard had a horrible game. One he won't forget. He likely will explode on Haywood the next time. Also, those cheapies Howard got won't be as easily called in the playoffs. Granted Arenas will be back, but I think that the wiz will have an awful time with the Magic and Howard come postseason...if they meet.

You were talking about a guy who first was handicapped, then died. That's really mature of you.
sorry if I owned you, it wasn't intentional

You played without Arenas, but you did have those 3 guys with the striped shirts on your team. We played all game without Dwight. Terribly officiated game where if you get rid of even a 4th of the bad calls we win by 10. If you get rid of just that phantom no call goaltend 3 point play then the game goes to overtimes.
So in closing, Washington didn't win that game, they were handed it. The fact that we had the ball with a chance to win after how bad we played and how bad the game was called only shows you how much better we really are than Washington right now.

This is just hilarious to me. I don't think I've ever seen such delusions of grandeur from such a mediocre team. Washington is a MIDDLE-OF-THE PACK team, folks. Get over it.
Any other season you'd be lucky to even make the playoffs, let alone be fighting for a chance to get swept by Orlando. Good Lord.
