I didn't know that Fisher wasn't a man and couldn't handle it...

The Fans feel cheated. He asked to be released from his contract so he could be close to his Dr, which at the time was in NY. The Jazz release him and the next day he signs with LA. Wouldn't you feel abit cheated as well?

The operation was in New York. But the day to day treatments were in LA. Where she would get most of her care and would live. Jazz fans need to get over the sport and realize the man wanted to be with his family. Shouldn't mormons have a sense of compassion in their religion?

Religion has nothing to do with it and bigoted remarks like that don't help anyone. The perception is, that Derek Fisher used his daughter's cancer as an excuse to get out of his contract and find a better basketball situation for himself. Its especially suspect, because Derek signed with the Lakers before his family even picked a doctor to oversee his daughter's treatment. I can understand why some Jazz fans booed. I don't necessarily support it, but I do understand it.

As for me, I'm thrilled he's gone. Deron has been able to develop as a team leader and the Jazz are out from underneath of Fisher's terrible contract.

Well, I would say you're only missing Bynum cause you guys shouldn't have Gasol anyways if Memphis wasn't having their idiotic fire sale. Either way, it would be nice to play a full strength Laker team, especially on national TV.

You are hilarious

This day cant go by quick enough!! I cant wait for this game......Deron always shows up for nationally televised games, so this should be a good one. We just need to try and keep Kobe from dropping 50 on us, and we should be okay!

Please, PLEASE don't start this crap. That's the last time I want to hear anything on this subject. (I'm not particularly interested in the back-and-forthing about fans' class or lack thereof, either. Let's just talk about the game itself, okay?)

I agree, but a game thread wouldnt be complete without a classless, bigoted Utah/Mormons remark from someone from the rival fanbase!! The only thing left to make this thread complete are 2 words....JAZZ WIN!!

LOL, false
Where she would get most of her care and would live.

Their family lived in Utah during that time and only made trips to NY. Never to California and that's from Fisher's mouth directly.

^^^ Fisher had to choose between 6 or 7 different facilities. LA and NY were among them, and I don't believe he listed which other cities facilities were being considered. At the end of the day I suspect that he chose LA because of his familiarity with the team as well as having a center that can treat his daughters cancer. It's not like he chose the Lakers because they were a contender, seeing as how the team managed to win only 42 games last season.

Anyway, good luck tonight. Deron, I suspect, is going to go nutty on us and torch Fisher/Farmar. The key will be to limit his effectiveness in getting others involved, so I'd like to see us play him straight up. If we allow him to score AND create offense for others, it's going to be a long evening for the Lakers. Having said that, I'd be quite shocked if we pulled this game out.

Shouldn't all people have a sense of campassion regardless of religion? This is sports... there is no compassion in sports.

I don't know about the treatments. I guess the news didn't report it as well as they should've. All we ever heard was about him flying back and forth from NY, nothing about LA. When he was about to be released, all the ruomors were circulating around NY NJ and maybe DET, nothing about LA until it happened.

Regardless, what is the big issue with him choosing the Lakers over any other team?

Just curious...

Well, we can certainly take the lead too. Let's not hear any more Kobe/rapist stuff here, please...it's not classy or innocent either.

Passionate rivalries are fine (and healthy!)...but there's no reason for either side to start baiting or bashing.

Let's keep the game threads clean and on-topic, please. They're more enjoyable that way anyway AFAIC.

Oh, and Go Jazz ;)
