Bag night + photo make Green Bay Press Gazette

Post#1 » by Isocleas2 » Thu Mar 20, 2008 4:48 pm

I was going to put this in the bag night recap thread, but since by my count this is the only paper in Wisconsin to run this pic...I think they should get their share of recognition. Way to have some balls guys.

I can't find the article on their website, so I'll just go ahead and type it out:

This was from this Wednesday's paper, front page of the sports section on the left sidebar.

NBA

Bucks fans show their game faces

Milwaukee -- A group of Milwaukee Bucks fans made their feelings about the state of the team known to owner Sen. Herb Kohl on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

According to www.brewhoop.com, 39 paper bag-wearing fans paraded through the concourses before tipoff, halftime, and after the game.

But a small group didn't stop there. With about 5 minutes remaining in the Bucks' 99-77 loss to the Celtics, several fans with bags in hand got past ushers and made their way to the fifth row, where Kohl sits. Once there, the group put the bags back on their heads and gave Kohl a round of applause. An usher then escorted the group back to the concourse, but not before its point was made.

Why would anyone care about Doug Russell? He is so irrelevant, the only run he has ever gotten in this market was the bag thread....so I guess he acomplished his mission, but to even mention his name like it matters make no sense

He's already stickiing his nose in the air and he bought a monocle. He's gone Hollywood.

When I started writing my main goal was to condense the quality/insight of this forum into something more bite-sized that the casual fan could follow...I think we're slowly getting there.

It's also awesome the way this forum has become known on its own in the media--guys like Sparky and Dan deserve a lot of credit for pushing it into the mainstream--but it's still usually easier for places like TrueHoop (and now apparently the regular media) to cite an established blog than a message board.

Anyway, I appreciate people's support here and I'm glad that we've been able to reciprocate by helping to push this stuff more into the mainstream. Long live the BrewHoop/RealGM alliance.

I'm not sure how great this will turn out but I scanned the paper. I read this during lunch yesterday and rootbeer nearly shot from my nose.

I'll hold on to the original and if Fam or anyone who was involved in this Bag Revolt would like it, I would be more than happy to send it to you.
