Cassell's prior Celtic connections

Post#1 » by Fencer reregistered » Thu Mar 20, 2008 8:43 pm

We all of course know about Cassell's prior connections with Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett?

Who else did he share a team with?

:)

He's from Baltimore. He came up knowing Reggie Lewis who was from there as well.

I didn't know that.

I'm talking about something much more germane to him joining the Cs this year.

Ainge coached him in Phoenix, I believe, in 96-97 during his 22 game stay.

He works out with Pierce in the summer.

He went to Dunbar in Baltimore but it was only after Mugsy Bogues, David Wingate, Reggie Lewis and Reggie Williams (the Denver one) were already gone. In fact, if people remember, (our) Reggie was only a sixth man on that team.

Sam went to prep school at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield Maine where he was part of an undefeated team that made headlines around these parts....(Sam graduated in 1989)...it sort of all began for him around here...so in a way he is truly one of our own...

Nice to have him around!

It might also interst you that MCI graduates Catino Mobley (93").... Brad Miller (94")....and Caron Butler (99").... all come through the prep school ranks at MCI....

Let's see, the only Celtics players (other than RA or KG) who've been on teams besides the Celtics are:

PJ Brown
Eddie House
Scot Pollard
James Posey
Brian Scalabrine

Don't think any of them played with Cassell in the NBA.

He once slept with a girl that used to be the bank teller where Scal banks.

His draft day suit was made by the same tailor that Eddie House uses.

Sam's mom had tupperware parites every forst Saturday of the month, where one day PJ's mom showed up and bought $100 worth of microwavable containers.

That's all I know.

Haven't seen the MCI name in a while...Graduated in '01 from New Hampton Prep, played on the team there, MCI was always invited to our tournament, so we played them pretty much every year. They had some serious ballers.

Big ups to the N.E. Prep Basketball scene. Some real good players come through here.
Love that dirty water...

That's the one I was thinking of. :)

Actually, it may be even shorter than that -- Ainge only became coach after a season-opening 13 game losing streak. Unless he was an assistant previously?
