Leon Powe

Post#1 » by SnakefromHell » Fri Mar 21, 2008 2:12 am

... add him to the list of Nuggets' traded draft picks that turn out to be studs along with Jameer Nelson, Jarret Jack.

Seeing him play kills me... he's so good and has a lot of upside. A good character, works and plays hard, bangs inside, plays defense, and is only in his second year. Probably better than Nene at the same point of their careers and Nene was starting. Powe is backing up a HOF player.

Don't know if Powe would fit into George Karl's system of "3 guys stand around and let AI and Melo take all the shots".

For everytime Powe fights elbows and hard fouls for loose balls, rebounds, and buckets, I can imagine Nene sitting at home munching his donuts

i'm not sure he is as great as you are making him out to be.

true, when kg was out, the c's went 7-2 - and powe was putting up double doubles, but a lot of his stuff is created by the guards pierce and rondo.

they drive to the basket and give him the ball, and he is a good finisher and decent free throw shooter.

good rebounder for his size - but this is why he was drafted so low, i think in the second round - dude is really undersized for a PF!

on occasion he'll create his own stuff, and do some spin move like he's chris bosh or something - but i think he knows his skill set and when up against short front lines like the houston one without yao ming, he shines.

problem is, most front courts aren't that small.

^You mean like Charles Barkley undersized? Or Dennis Rodman? Zo was also undersized for a center (6'10").

well undersized is undersized.

who really knows how tall Charles was, but i'm certainly not saying leon is anywhere near his talent level. not even close.

he's a good role player, but i don't think he has the skill to be a starter, especially considering his size.

i just love how focused he is around the basket. he rarely misses layups. smart dude.

^Eric, what has Nene done?

Besides putting underachieving 12 and 6, coming to camp every year overweight, missing games more than Camby in his Nugget career?

And smart players usually will keep getting playing time.

It doesn't matter if he's not as talented as Nene, but dude plays and works hard every possession. Something you cannot say about most Nuggets...

And hard workers that get constant playing time will get somewhere eventually, e.g. Udonis Haslem, Ben Wallace... etc

Those idiots who are claiming that Powe is better than Nene are only talking bacause Nene is out. They will be the first to shut up the second hes back on the floor and shows how dominant he plays to all you idiots looking simply at stats.

Oh and Powe lead to JR. So yeah, ill take JR instead.

What has Nene done? O yea, I forgot. Nene played good in the 2nd half of his fifth season. Then this year he went back to normal. Missed layup after layup and then got hurt, came back, and caught cancer. What has he done?

I'm not saying Nene doesn't have potential or isn't good/solid, but its his sixth year. The "potential" line is getting old and I'm tired of using it. Did you forget that we are giving him 10 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR? Did you forget that we took him over Amare ****ing Stoudemire?

I don't understand how we traded Leon for J.R.

Denver Nuggets traded the rights to Leon Powe to the Boston Celtics for a 2nd round selection in 2007.

And we traded for J.R. in 2005

We traded for J.R. in 2006, genius. And it was that 2nd we got from the Powe trade that we packaged with Howard Eisley to get J.R. from Chicago.

I was curious and make a litle search for Powe numbers, i was thinking, man, what this guy is doing for ppl. start a thread to bash Nene or JR, the anser was: 6 pts and 3 board for a almost 6/7 PF!

OK! they have KG now, so i looked for his stats from last year, and DEAR LORD, how was my surprise, he putted in miraculous 4 points and 2 boards, this guys should be some kind a god, Nene
NenĂª, brazilan tomahawk!

Return to Denver Nuggets
