I was thinking with time they would get better but that hasn't happen yet, maybe nedxt year. I must say Eric has played better since J-Kidd came to dallas. I guess its because he has somebody to pass him the ball.

A lot of those games were early when the trade occurred. They have gotten better as of late, there's no shame in losing to the Celtics

Kidd's problem in New Jersey was he had to take more scoring responsibilities then he's able to handle at this stage of his career .

Somehow thats also his problem in Dallas , for some reason Dirks their only 100% reliable scorer . Some of Dallas rotation players shoot even worse then Kidd does this this season .

Add that to the fact Avery's not utilizing Kidd's talents correctly you have a big problem .

Why trade for a player who makes you change your very successful style? On talent and depth alone Dallas was good enough before the Kidd trade. They got scared because they were underperforming and got Kidd because he's "mentally tough" enough in the late game situations - ironically Kidd is a late game liability these days.

I see coaches blamed for this sort of thing too often but the fact of the matter is that coaches have strengths just like players. Kidd's strengths as a player and Johnson's strengths as a coach don't jive. The GM shoulda seen this coming.

As someone who endorsed the trade for Dallas, I didn't see the bench imploding like this. Kidd himself seems to have been playing well, Dirk's been playing well, Damp's been playing well... you'd think there'd be enoguh guys for Johnson to throw together a bench but that doesn't seem to be the case.

They can restock this summer. Worst case, the trade dumped Harris's contract which is a plus, although it could've been done for cheaper imo.

Dallas needs a new coach, preferably one that doesn't have 30,000 teeth.

And, one that can make reasonable in-game adjustments....

OT: Anyone ever seen those "Now Hiring" posters that they put up at Exxon? Does the dude in the photo not look like Avery?

Yeah, that too.

Isn't Larry Brown available? I bet his coaching would get the Mavs to the next level. I still have nightmares about LB out-coaching PJ in the 04 Finals.

The bench sucks because Avery plays the whole 2nd unit together. I mean, does this team look like it's going to have any success? That's a jump shot happy, no defense (except George) group.

I don't think it's reason to panic because with most of the winning teams they have to the games to the wire.

I am not sure it is so much Kidd's fault as it is in losing the defensive presence of Diop.
