It's only a ten day but good for him.
I know which team my League Pass will be on every night possible.

Riley's been busy getting players shut down and getting a player exemption from the league. Looks like he had his eye on Lasme for defense and rebounding.

I'll go check him out against the Knicks Monday (world's cheapest basketball ticket.) I should be able to score floor seats with the parking change on my dash.

If he doesn't play against the Knicks, I think you can file him with Belinelli, but I'll give my impressions if he does play.

They didnt sign him to a contract as insurance... Lasme will play. And honestly, I think teams will try and avoid him defensively. Don't think many questions will get answered at all... but if Quinton Ross and Trenton Hassell have jobs, Lasme belongs in the NBA.

I have no horse in the Lasme debate, but I do have to point out that there is a big difference between Quinton and Lasme. Quinton is an extremely smart player. Lasme has shown poor awareness so far in his SL and preseason court time. Lasme is young, so maybe it will come, but currently the gap is huge. Just because they are both classified as defenders doesn't make them similar.

I don't think Lasme will be a starter in the NBA but I totally want to see the kid play.

As for defense, his timing is great for leaping, his arms, activity and intensity are all well above average, and he's quick and solid.

Riley is perhaps the best defensive coach of his era but he is not coaching right now. He is "scouting." Lasme is QUITE smart on the whole, just inexperienced on a basketball court relative to many, and if Riley says he's worth paying and giving a hard won roster spot exemption, that's more informative than Don Nelson deciding his non-guaranteed contract is the right cut to make so we can get the likes of DJ Mbenga and Washed Up Webber.

Just in superficial terms, it looks like this:
Riley worked to sign Lasme for a look.
The Warriors wasted draft picks.

I used to love Q until I saw him try any help defense... same w/Hassell... goes to show that the media's labels stick to all... both are amazing one on one defenders though.

Lasme is quite the same, though one screen and he's absolutely lost.

If Lasme getting called up is supposed to be some kind of "told you so," I'll remind you that I never said or even believed that Lasme was incapable of getting a 10-day call-up.

What I said - in reaction to Rowell's over the top thread about how stupid the Warriors were for letting Lasme go - was that he reminded me of one of my all-time favorite college players, the undersized PF, shot-swatting Erik MacArthur, who failed to catch on with the Celtics, but went on to a long career in the Japan League. I also asked that, if Lasme is so great:

How come he lasted until the second round?

How come the Warriors gave up on him so fast?

And how come no other team snapped him up when the the Warriors cut him loose?

It took a long time for Lasme to get even the most meager of NBA appointments, a 10-day try out (and if the Heat hadn't of gotten a special exception from the League for a 16-man roster, he might still be down). Maybe he'll make the most of it, and stick around for the rest of the season (I hope so). Maybe it's ten days and out.

Next season, I would expect that Lasme will get a training camp invite. If he then sticks around for the season, I will begin to be impressed, and if he plays semi-regularly and puts up even Leon Powe-like numbers, then you can have your I told you so's.

I'm setting a very low hurdle for Lasme, but just getting a 10-day call up is not too impressive.

Well drafting a guy in the second round and then cutting him after 1 minute of playing time is not too impressive either.
