Skiles as Coach

Post#1 » by raferfenix » Sun Mar 23, 2008 9:08 pm

With word from PP that the Carlisle dream might be dead, I'm wondering what people would think of this prospect?

I have no idea if he'd have any interest in coaching in milwaukee (though him not having to move from chicago might help sway his family), but he is the kind of coach that could help change the horridly lazy team culture that has developd here.

Actually I think the Skiles' family lives here in Bloomington, Indiana. He and Bogut would either get along really well or Skiles would end up shooting Bogut--no middle ground.

Given how close he and Larry K are, I don't know if he'd be willing to consider taking the job that Larry just got fired from.

I think you heavily discounted how few NBA head coaching jobs exist and the demand for them. Yes, Skiles might feel poorly for a few minutes, but he would take it (assuming he wants it). Assitant coaches when getting the job from a booted head coach seldom feel good, but I can't think of anyone who has rejected the promotion (although in the back of my mind one or two have).

skiles is obviously the kind of guy this team needs.....too bad stotts probably hates us because i think we all know he would be a good assistant and we could get some serious good coach/bad coach up in hurr

correct me if this has changed, but I think he's being targeted for the Indiana Job. hard to say which he would pick (I would guess he would lean towards IU). He would be a good coach, but if Herb is guilty of meddling while LK is the coach, I think there would be alot of confrontation between Skiles and Kohl. I could see him getting canned if the team doesn't win immediately, and it would be kinda nice to have a head coach for longer than 2 years for a change

Agreed on Bogut. I think Drew espcially might need a coach like Skiles to let him know what playing all out, all the time really entails.

Skiles is being mentioned for the IU job, but I think he identifies as an NBA coach and not as a college coach. But then again, IU would mean not moving the family.

I'd like to hear two words for our head coach job: TOM THIBODEAUX.
If we can't, Skiles can be a good solution, even if I'd prefer Larry Brown.
