yeah, that didn't look good. but even if it is a torn ACL; he will be back by midseason next year.
and the Mavs may slip out of the playoffs and grab a lottery pick; since they are so far over the tax it is unlikely they would be able to grab anyone in FA, it could turn out better for them in the long run (they don't really have a chance of getting anywhere in the playoffs regardless of the extent of Dirk's injury).

Bad for Dallas, really unlucky.
Hope Dirk gets better and it's just an ankle and not the knee.
Just a pre-emptive note to Suns fans, DO NOT rub this in/laugh/bait Mavs fans. We, more than any other NBA team know what it's like, and none of us appreciated any grief on our board, so don't go running and pointing

latest story says 2 weeks?
either way, even if it is 2 weeks, they could miss the playoffs
its never good to see someone get injured, esp. someone as good as dirk (IIRC didnt he have a serious knee injury against the kings in the playoffs a few years back - bad timing)
but as far as im concerned, i wont cry for them, they never gave us an ounce of sympathy when amare went down and they beat us in the playoffs so my basic thoughts are deal with it dallas

Normally I'd think this was huge, but I really don't know how much it's gonna affect the big picture of the Western Conference this year because it didn't look like Dallas was gonna do much damage in the postseason anyway.
Btw, does anybody know why there are so few members on the Mavericks board? I visited to see what they had to say about the injury, and it's like a ghost down over there. Only 34 posts for today's game, and most of them were from outsiders. Kinda weird considering Dallas has been among the league's elite for so many consecutive years...

I have to agree with this. And it wasn't just Dallas fans either. Spurs fans also come to mind. So whenever a big player on those teams goes down I have no sympathy as well. Karma is funny, ain't it?

Bandwagon fans? I saw there were more Laker posters on today's game thread than Mav posters. If that happens here on the Suns board, I'll shoot myself.

Gettin knocked out by the 8th seed in the playoffs first round kinda keeps ya quite, I guess.
I remember at the time I joined realgm they used 2 have a pretty active board...
So they're gonna examine Dirk on Monday to figure out exactly how long he'll be out, for now it looks like he'll be out 2 weeks.

I wanna see Dirk get back on the courts ASAP, cuz it'd be so much funner 2 beat the Mavs in the playoffs with the choke-master on the floor

Don't say such things. I would implement a post-pad free zone for Suns fans.
Excuse the pun, but tough break for the Mavs. I was very interested to see where they would end up in the seedings. SanAn was getting back to it sorta and Suns have a mini-run going.
For all those saying that PHX would have to change their style drastically, I never thought Kidd suited Dallas' style of play to be honest. They really go with a lot of iso plays and that's not really Kidd's thing.

true mkot. I feel bad for them to a point, but not that bad. We have hard our share of bad karma in the past. I think this will help them ultimatly.
They can get a semi high pick now if they slip out of the playoffs. Allow their superstar to heal and try to make there team better by some off-season moves if necessary. Too many good teams in the west this year.
