Opinion on Gerald Wallace Trade
Just wanted to get your ideas on this one:
Would you guys consider a trade of Gerald Wallace to Dallas for Josh Howard?
I heard MJ was very high on Howard so I wanted to see how you guys would feel about it, thanks for your replies in advance.

Hells yes I'd do it, Howard has no injury worries whatsoever, while Crash might be Dan Morgan.
Josh makes about 10, 11, then 12m, with the final year a team option.
Crash makes 8.25, 9, 10, 10.5, 11.5, the final year a player option.
They're roughly equivalent in terms of output. They're very similar in terms of scoring ability, but Crash gets more points at the line, while Howard is more efficient from the field (and better from the line when he gets there). Crash turns the ball over a lot more, and doesn't rebound as well as Howard, but he passes more and more effectively than Howard, and of course gets more blocks and steals.

It sure isn't a bad offer value wise, but I'm pretty hesitant to do it. Howard is a lesser version of Crash who is just more healthy IMO. I don't see any more that Howard would provide us. As the guys above have said, it's a lateral move at best.
If I'm trading Crash for another wing, I'm trading him for someone like Iggy (S&T). I'm bringing in a wing with handles, on ball D and basketball smarts.
I'd then move Swish to the SF position - which I think suits him really well (he a strong body and rebounder with range AND a variety of post moves).
Felts
Iggy
Swish
EO50
Hibbert(?)
Adding Iggy and Doc would seriously improve our collective ball IQ and our ball movement.
I'd also like to try and get back into the mid 1st and draft which ever PG slips out of DJ, Collison, Lawson, Westbrook or Weaver as our backup and maybe even potential starting PG.

They both score around the same and rebound the same but Howard is 2 years older than Crash and Crash is better at blocking shots and getting steals. Plus I think that Crash has more of an ability to "take over a game".
Don't get me wrong, I like Howard - a lot. It's just that apart from the injury concern, I don't see him as a better player than Crash - especially because Crash, while filling the stat sheet, also does things that can't be measured with stats - like blocking a shot out of no where, picking off a pass and then dunking on someone, diving 3 rows into the crowd for a loose ball etc.
It's hard to put a value on that sort of stuff. How do you put a price on inspiration and fan value?

Well, I suppose I have to agree with the "taking games over" part. For instance, Howard has had only 5 games in his career over 30 points, and 3 of them wre 30 exactly, Crash has had 15, and 4 over 40.
On average, however, I think the two players are basically equivalent, and thus I default to injuries.

Trading Wallace...wow, funny! We need to get ourselves a LEGIT SCORING big man instead of these ideas of trading our best player.

Why are you asking about this trade, what do you want our of Wallace that you don't get out of Howard?
the kidd trade has been disaterous for the mavs, kidd needs players that drive to the basket and howard seems content on being a jumshooter these days thats why i wanted to gauge this interest. Not that id want to trade howard and keep kidd, id much rather see terry and kidd go before howard anyday.
