DMN was saying that he was walking gingerly on it after x-rays so maybe thats a good sign? I don't like that there was no diagnosis given. It seems when x-rays are negative they announce that right away. If he only misses like 3 or 4 games we can escape this.

EXPECTED to miss 2 weeks..

LA Clippers, Denver and Golden State this week
LA Clippers, Golden State, Lakers, and Phoenix next week
Seattle, Utah, Portland, and Seattle the following week (should come back one of those games).
New Orleans in the final game of the week/season.

That's ~6 games.

Man... This is going to be a dog fight. If we can just pull out 2-3 wins then we'll be in good shape.

^^^2 weeks? where does it say this?

I know I'm probably blowing this out of proportion but (UCONN fan here), after seeing A.J. Price go down with the torn ACL friday, I'm just hoping he didnt suffer anything like that, and for those who say you can't walk after tearing it, u surely can just with a heavy limp (personal experience with myself, along with seeing Price limp off the bench) but yea I'm just hoping this is nothing serious, When it comes to injuries its rare to see Dirk be out for a long time.

The Mavs' postgame press release about Dirk's injury is pretty vague. The team continues to call it a "lower left leg" injury and isn't specifying whether Dirk hurt his ankle, knee or both after blocking Ime Udoka's shot.

"I fell awkwardly and my left leg got caught underneath me," Dirk said in the press release. "I am going to get re-evaluated in the morning, and I hope to have more information then."

Unofficial word is that the Mavs hope they'll be missing their MVP for only two weeks.

so we HAVE to beat the clippers both times and try to win one of the 5 against Nugs, GS, Lakers and Suns. Preferably win the Nuggets game. Then pray and hope he is back starting with Seattle.

Says they hope to have him back in 2 weeks. I wonder if that hope is taking into account Dirk's quicky healing and rebounding from injuries? Like if this were someone else, would it be 3 weeks or more?

just sad. THE worst thing that could happen to the Mavs and it happened. I'd like to think we could do what Houston did and win some games but we all know what its like without Dirk out there.

This might be really hard to do today, but why not get past the Dirk injury for a second here and think that maybe there is a bright side to this....

....maybe now this will force Avery and the rest of the Mavs to play WITH Jason Kidd instead of trying to fit Jason into the Mavs' previous offense.

I think the biggest problem or obstacle to overcome is Avery likes to manage the game and he could do that with a young PG, but harder to do that with a seasoned veteran like Kidd....also Cuban is like a fan so he sees through our eyes that you gotta let the players do their thing and worry less about micro managing everything.

Nellie allowed players to play freely and it was easy and flowing....Mavs need to get back to that type of play.

That's what I thought about Dirk's injury. It may be a blessing in disguise for the Mavs fans. Avery now has to fully utilizes Jason Kidd in order to win, he may starts to give Kidd more freedom to create.

Unless there's some sort of tearing, I'd be shocked if Dirk missed two weeks. His recuperative powers are nothing short of amazing. How many times have we seen him suffer really awful looking injuries, be totally hobbled the next day, then see him back within a game or two?

I would be shocked if Dirk only missed 2 weeks. Of course just a guess, but that looked worse than a simple 2 weeks rest could handle.

Sorry to sound pessimistic but too all the fans saying this may be a blessing in disguise and maybe things will change with Avery, let me remind you about what happened when Dirk was suspended.

WE GOT TROUNCED!!!!

This really sucks.

And just when you thought the Mavs couldnt be playing any worse...

Dirk, just sit out the rest of the season, this year is a lost cause. Come back strong next season
