Time to draw a line in the sand. Where do you stand?

I say playoffs.

I stand for Kid instead of Kidd. So we have better chance to land a talent by draft. Dirk is more important than playoff disappointment.

We need s scoring machine to succeed.

It hurts me to say it but.....lottery. I don't think we can win it this year after the trade and with how tough the West is. Better to not win a title and have a lottery pick than to not win a title and have no significant asset to improve the team.

Sorry foty, I said "tank it" in order to capitalize on a loaded draft (we would not have a draft choice if it wasn't in the lottery). Time to reload and with this Kidd trade, this is the most legitimate way. The worst we could get is the 14th pick in the draft if we made the lottery. No telling what level of talent is in next year's draft. This year's draft is even better than the LeBron, Carmelo, DWade, Bosh draft. I say capitalize! NO one would even say we were tanking it! Dirk is out for around two weeks! Just shut him down for the season to "insure he's ready for next season and that he doesn't add further damage."

It's smart, it's tactical, and San Antonio did it to get Duncan when Robinson got hurt in the late 90's.

Jump my case if you don't agree, I don't care. I would rather win it all in 2009 then try to look respectable and barely make the playoffs this year.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

There's no one at 14 in the draft who can help us win a title in his 1st year imo. I think we would be better off trading the pick (package it with Terry or Howard maybe) for the best player we can get.

^^ It's better than not having a pick at all!

It's top 14 or not at all! Take your pick!

Lottery. We arent going to make any noise in the playoffs anyways. I hope Donnie and Cuban go out and actually make this team better over the summer.

If, and I understand that's a big if, this team gels under Kidd while Dirk is out...learns to play as a team instead of the ISOs, I think this team will collectivley benefit when Dirk is added later.

I think this may be a blessing in disguise.

Seriously? Rose, Beasley, Mayo, and Gordon are no where near Carmelo, LBJ, Bosh, and Wade.

I mean would I rather have a draft pick then none hell yeah. However it isnt going to be a top 5 pick let alone the top pick. It's #14!!! I'm sorry Chase Budinger and the other people likely available do not excite me.

And yes it would be a nice trade assest but who are we going to land for the 14th pick? You know Josh would have to be added in the deal and who out there is going to be had for that price? Redd? Marion? If that's the case I'd rather keep Josh.

Playoffs.

It's won't be easy, but it's not been easy all season long, and now we get to really see what this team is made of. It's time for our management to keep an eye out on who's under performing now that Dirk's going to miss two weeks.

I may not have always been a posative poster, but to give up and choose lottery instead of at least contending for a title in the post season is for losers and I'm not ready to call our players losers.

I am not saying our players are losers, but our coach is a complete MORON and doesnt know how to use them. Everytime I look at our roster I am in awe that we are actually 0-8 against teams that are above .500. Id rather miss the playoffs in general than go out in the first round again.

I understand that Avery is not a good coach, but realistically, he will be here next year regardless of whether or not we make the playoffs. I'd still rather fight and not give up any more Mav spirit than I did the day I say Kidd in a Maverick uniform.

What else can you call a team that can't beat anybody that is over .500?

People are dreaming if they think this team has any type of shot at a championship if Dirk doesn't come back 100%. The only advantage that I can see going into the POs over the lottery is the confidence that could be built by winning the first round when nobody is going to give the Mavs a prayer's chance in hell.

I say take the pick and package it with Terry to get Miller or Maggette in the offseason. Otherwise, Terry will be virtually impossible to move which will make for a good excuse for management to do absolutely nothing in the offseason again.

I agree...it increases our chance at having a draft pick as a bargaining tool in the offseason.

On another note, the Dirk injury will be the excuse this year for management's failure to address any weaknesses in the offseason.
