in all honesty Kobe was great offensively...but you cant just blame Luke defensively. The whole perimeter got killed defensively, Fisher, Farmar, even Kobe Bryant and Vujacic.

18 points on 7/20 4 assits 1 reboun is good dfense on baron by kobe. But playing zone in last shot is stupid decision by PJ, as well as playing walton over turiaf.

it has come down to crunch time with warriors this season. Troy hudson hit a game winner in preseason, baron hit a dagger last time and today it was p jackson.

Really? Kobe got killed defensively? I thought he did a great job on Baron, he only shot 7-20. Maybe I'm seeing things?

Radmanovic, Walton, and Fisher were just awful.

Kobe was great offensively? He tried at least 6 or 7 times to back down Buke and then take a jumper over him, and Buke guarded him perfectly each time... Kobe was stubborn for trying that so often, when he could just drive around him like he did a few times...

And he just flat out destroyed Baron, whos quickly sliding down the W's "most important players" list...

Its not about blaming only Luke.

But he plays NO PART.

He's not a shooter
he's not a defender
and hes NOT a rebounder

There was a FT parade and a shooting parade and a driving parade

PJ and the REST OF HUMANITY could SEE that there was a defensive problem.

So, who do you take out.

Kobe? Nope. Closer
Odom? Nope. REbounder and 2nd option
Fisher? Nope. Shooter
Vlad? Nope. Shooter

So, whose left...

OH YEAH...how about the guy who was BROUGHT IN TO REPLACE TURIAF...

PUke WAlton who

isnt a shooter
isn't a rebounder
and
isn't a defender

SEE MY POINT???

You'd know this more if you wathc more laker games.

I promise you.

Baron got in the lane, he got blocked at least 2 or 3 times inside after blowing by..same with Monta.

Monta is too fast for anyone on our team

theres no question about that

BUT, again thats not the point

It wasnt one particular guy.

It was the need for a rebounder/intimidator DOWN LWO
to prevent the drive and kickout OR the fouls!!!!

Plus, Turiaf can get O boards.

PUke Walton??? any of that??? NOT so much.

Shame on Kobe for letting Baron go past him a few times.

Getting by him a few times and not converting results in him "killing" Kobe?

Does that even make sense?

Everyone is straight over-reacting.

It was a great game, and the warriors pulled it out. Period.

Not Phil's fault. It's a team game, the team accepts the loss. No reason they should have ever been down 26 pts.

Incorrect.

They came back

Took the lead

Did so with Turiaf's help on Defense in the 3rd.

Then whne it matters most and Kobe is there to close and the most important thing is someone to rebound and get stops,

he replaces him with the ANTI DEFENSE Luke Walton.

A player who also cant shoot
and cant rebound well either.

So, the logic in that is WHAT exactly???

I mean the ONE shot the guy took, he missed and had to have Odmo tap it in for him!

Yeah, when your starting centers are Turiaf and Mbenga you cant expect too much against an 8th seed GS team fighting to be in the playoffs.

tied for first still...thanks.

p.s. you better hope the ancient suns don't suffer an injury like the rest of the west or else it's lights out.

you make a great point. in a race as tight as this, injuries are huge. better have depth and better not rely too heavily on one guy.

Why is it that when the casual NBA fans see Golden State in the 8th seed, they automatically assume that the Warriors are hanging on for dear life???

The Warriors are 43-19 since the return of Stephen Jackson, they're on fire right now. It's just that the 3-8 seeds don't basically show how "good" or "bad" a team is, since the top teams in the Western Conference are only 4 games apart. This isn't like last season where the 1st seed in the west had 20+ more wins than the 8th seed in the same conference. So yeah, being an 8th seed in the West right now wouldn't necessarily mean you're a bad team, this could be the first season in NBA history where a 50 win team doesn't even make the playoffs. Not bad at all.

Back to the Lakers/Warriors game... Even though the Lakers lost, they still showed how good they can be without Bynum and Gasol. Yes, they were down by 26 points, but they showcased how much mental toughness they have by overcoming that deficit and regaining the lead in the 4th quarter. I don't see why some Lakers fans on here are making Luke Walton the scape goat of the game. You can't expect EVERY player on your team to be so PERFECT. Just be happy that the Lakers didn't get blown out and found a way to play against Golden State. I have a feeling that LA will win tomorrow.

Actually, The Lakers are in 2nd place. 1 win ahead of Phoenix and 1 loss ahead of Houston & San Antonio. If Lakers lose tomorrow, they drop to 4th..If Houston wins, they drop to 5th..

Yeah, Kobe almost got a triple double but mostly all his points/rebounds etc. were against Baron.

It was when Kelenna Azubuike was guarding him that surprised me. Azubuike forced Kobe into several missed shots and even an airball. :o That defensive performance was very interesting, hopefully Azubuike guards Kobe more in their next meeting tomorrow.

Kobe was being stubborn, I dont think he took kindly to a D-Leaguer shutting down one of his favorite shots.

Also, Kobe seemed to be a bit frustrated w/his teammates when he was first on Buke. They were giving him the ball late in the SC, and I remember two fouls specifically where Kobe looked frustrated that he wasnt getting the ball in the perimeter, just in the midrange with his back to the basket... trying to muscle out Buke is a tough task for anyone.

That was the problem with him tonight. Hopefully he rewatches that film and realizes how Azubuike forced him into many missed shots and airballs. Only way he'll score a lot is if he uses his quickness like you said or if Baron has a hard time guarding him like tonight.

I'm dying to see our teams meet healthy in the playoffs.
