Playoffs: Which Matchup Is Best For Us?

Post#1 » by DraftBoy10 » Sun Mar 23, 2008 2:04 am

Who do you WANT to play in the playoff matchups between:

Lakers
Spurs
Mavericks
Hornets
Suns
Nuggets(if they make it)
Warriors
Utah

I say clearly Dallas. I think we could take them w/Landry and w/o Yao.

with a healthy landry and explosive t-mac, i like our chances against golden state. they score, but they also give up a lot of points. we play small ball like we did last night, and it proved to be pretty effective.

Nuggets
Hornets
Golden State
Mavericks

If we don't play any of those 4 teams, we basically lost in the first round. There's no way in hell we can guard their big men from those other 4 teams. That showed last night when we lost to the Suns. Shaq and Amare killed us with pleasure.

Dirk out for at least two weeks....

He'll be back for the playoffs, if Dallas makes them.

I'd take, in order:

Nuggets: Weakest team
Mavericks: Not as good as the last two years
GS: Make them play our game, hope they don't hit too many 3s
Spurs: We match up well with them
Utah: Impossible to beat at home, but creampuffs on the road
Hornets: Paul and West kill us. Why would you want them?

So I'm hoping that Denver makes the playoffs, obviously.

EDIT: With Dirk out, the Mavericks become my first option to play against.

yeah! with alston bashing about the best PG in the NBA, i hate to see NO in the playoffs, cause i dont know what cp3 will do unto us. as for utah? bring it on! they suck on the road

plus utah last year>>>>utah this year

so yeah! bring it on UTAH! we couldnt possible lose to a team in a playoff series twice in a row right? its redemption time for tmac

1. Utah
2. Dallas

are the 2 best matchup for us

best matchup for us would be GSW and NO
NO for their inexperience in playoff and GSW because of sizes
GSW is the only team we can go small

Highly improbable we'd face DEN or GS with them fighting for a low seed. Our likely opponent would be UTAH, NO, or DAL, and I'd rank them DAL, NO, UTAH.

Agreed. But all 3, including Utah, are potentially beatable for us.

We probably won't face DEN or GS, though I wouldn't mind playing them in the first round. We talk about T-Mac being a playoff virgin, Carmelo is also a playoff virgin for four years straight!

And GS, as Max alluded to, is the only team we can go small on. And, Houston is not like Dallas.

Other matchups would have to New Orleans, Dallas, and even Phoenix.

Hornets would be the better matchup.

Chandler is limited offensively so Dikembe can keep up with him and not get too tired on defense.

Peja is a one trick pony so just let Battier shut him down at the 3pt line. And Mcgrady can destroy him on offense since Peja doesn't really play defense much, or at all.

David west is there inside scorer but Scola can definitely take him on. Or let Battier guard him on D like when Battier use to guard Nowitzky.
