Stack's opinion of Ginobili and why Tony Allen can relate
This made me recall when Tony supposedly fouled Ginobili in the first San Antonio versus Boston game. I believe someone on here has an avatar of it.

well, stackhouse blatantly pulled ginobli down by the next earlier in the game and wasn't exactly friendly when he was getting back up. i don't know what he did to get ejected though, i didnt watch that far. but i'm going to assume it was all his fault, seeing how his team was upset after losing dirk anway.

ginobli is just a very talented player and it probably gets on stackhouse's nerves. it's not easy to take charges and draw fouls. some guys make it look easy because they're good at it.
if everyone could draw charges like james posey, then they would. if they could draw fouls like wade or reggie miller, they would. not everyone can.
that, and the fact that ginobli hits some ballsy shots and always competes might make an opponent frustrated.

I disagree completly that Stackhouse threw Gino on the floor.
Gino jumped INTO stackhouse on the rebounding. this isn't a drive to the paint and jump this was in a boxout and the rebound was going to be behind Gino.. so instead of Stackhouse getting a shot of it as Stack jumped Gino purposely jumped into him. I related that to the little car prank were somone in front of you will stop real fast and you run into their bumper and they laugh as they collect your car insurance.
Stackhouse lost his cool, but it was because of a dirty crap that Gino did.
And I do not claim this avarter I stole it from the orginal poster who put it up on his. I forget his screename right now

I love your avatar. That was one of the funniest plays I've seen all season, Ginobli trying to jump into Tony and draw a foul. LOL

seems like there are more and more guys in the league who try to play the refs instead of playing basketball. it's f-ing annoying. ginobli is certainly one of the worst, but he's far from the only one. it's not really the players' fault tho, if the refs are going to continue to fall for that ****, then they will keep doing it. why not? it's the refs who have to study some tape and understand what these guys are doing, and stop falling for all the flops and flails.

I don't think he is. A charge is a charge. Getting to the spot and drawing the charge is a good basketball play. What's annoying is all the flailing and falling over and acting as if you've been shot when someone lays a hand on you. Guys like Pierce just play thru contact, and let the refs call it if they want. That's the right thing to do, not fall over at the touch of a feather and essentially force the ref to make a call, knowing it will usually go in the offensive player's favor. Sadly, guys like Pierce also don't get as many calls it seems.

yeah it's just funny to me, you have these huge guys...and they bump into each other and they hit the ground like they were shot...i honestly dont know how the refs fall for all the flopping
i wish it would be a point of emphasis in one of the coming offseason

Referees should refer to instant reply when a defender is inside or outside of the circle in the paint. Sometimes, it should be a charge (offensive foul) and other times it should be a defensive foul. How many times will a referees get the call wrong? I mean I thought one referee always looking at the feet and where their feet are before the foul.

Not the way they call it in the NBA. The circle has absolutely ruined the way charges are called, b/c offensive players now have complete liberty to abuse the defender once they get into the paint, while the defensive players know almost any bang bang call will be a charge out on the perimeter. But if the offensive player is in control, no defender should be able to slide under and get that call. Likewise, out of control is out of control on offense and the circle shouldn't lead to bail-out calls.ParticleMan wrote:I don't think he is. A charge is a charge. Yet every single coach of the league would love to have him. If we miraculously ended up with him, 98% of this board would be happy as hell.

True, he can really play, but...
Man U's Ronaldo is close to the best soccer player in the world, top 5, but it wasn't until he stopped flopping that he finally got respect.
Any team would have taken him, but even Manchester United fans admitted he was a diver (I'm one of them).
Same with Ginobli. His flopping is undeniable and a disgrace, but until the league stops it, why wouldn't he (and other players) continue to do it to get the advantage.

Couldn't agree more.
I also hate when guys who are nowhere around on D will slide right in front of a guy driving to the hoop and plant their feet to draw a charge.
I wanted to murder Jason Kidd for doing this against the C's in the 2002 ECF...that's all he'd do to Pierce...wait till he drove, jump in front of him, and get knocked down. That's how offensive players get hurt, even when they're under control.
