From Walker Wiggle to Walker whine?

Post#1 » by campybatman » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:15 pm

I guess Taylor is simply a pissed off owner this season. I mean didn't Walker hope that he could get traded before the deadline.

Antoine Walker is being paid some $8.5 million this season to watch the Timberwolves from the bench, and according to club owner Glen Taylor, the team doesn't have any plans on of buying out this season or next on the veteran's contract. And coach Randy Wittman said the present plans are not to play Walker unless somebody gets hurt. Walker hasn't played since Feb. 19. Minneapolis Star-Tribune

there's not a lot of options to trade him really. no one is going to trade another al jefferson for him, so trading doesn't make sense. and walker won't accept a low buyout(and i don't blame him)

the only way they get rid of walker is if they ship him and telfair to the knicks.

iseah is dumb enough to take on walker's contract because he's trying to 'stockpile talent', and he'll welcome telfair to try and replace marbury.

marbury for walker and telfair sounds like a reasonable deal to me. marbury may enjoy the change of scenery going back to minni and actualy become a respectable player again. at the worst, he'd be a better player than telfair anyways.

Antoine Walker didn't have to accept the huge contract to go play for Miami. Now Antoine has painted himself in a corner. Diminished skills and a huge contract.

No one is going to trade for him given his diminished skills and a huge contract and it's too much money for a buyout. Unless Antoine is willing to take about $1.0 mill to walk away and leave about $8.3 mill, the Wolves won't buy him out.

Don't feel sorry for him, he made his bed now he has to sleep in it.

Quit whining.

What's to whine about? Making 8 million bucks sitting on your ass watching while everyday joes like us on this board work our tails off for a miniscule fraction of that.

Antoine (and I have always been a Walker fan and supporter), STOP WHINING!!!!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Agreed, I'd sit on my ass for 8 million bucks. I do it for far less every day...

Granted athletes want to compete, but can we really call 'Toine an "athlete"?

Before the hate comes, since we all know hypersensitivity reigns supreme on these boards...thems jokes

Yes, but remember Garnett is no longer in Minnesota.

Telfair is said to have an interest in New York if the feeling were mutual from their front office.

Telfair to NY = Truck Party #2 in the making.

So yeah, I'm game for that. Watching any team from NY flounder and embarrass themselves is entertainment at its finest.

I was watching the Wolves game the other day and they showed Antoine sitting in his suit. He looked pretty miserable, but I don't know if that means he's whining.

he also didn't look like an NBA player, at least, he's closer to current Charles Barkely than Corey Brewer.

What do you think is the over/under before someone creates a thread saying we should acquire Fatoine?

I think SUBWAYS should acquire Fatoine. Put his wideass on the jared diet and see if it works. If it doesn't it will be like Jenny Craig dumping kristy Alleys , Fat Ass!!!LOL

lol I actually do feel a little bad for him. I know he's being paid all this money and not working his ass off for it etc etc but still its not all about the money and it sucks that not only is he on the worst team in the nba, but he's not getting any playing time either. So for overpayed nba player situations i do feel a little bad for him, but for real life situations its a laugh.

Hey, didn't Walker do his press conference topless when he first arrived in Minnesota? I recall there was speculation that Miami deemed him overweight or his body fat wasn't to their liking. It was his way of saying that I'm in shape and my weight isn't an issue, I think.

That'd be pretty funny if true.

Everyone always made jokes about his weight but seriously, he wasn't *that* bad...there were/are certainly more players who have had the issues (Oliver Miller? Barkley? Q-Rich? Tractor Traylor? etc)

Plus I bet most of y'all making fun of Toine for being fat are not that in shape yourselves! And no this is not a blind-defend-Walker post, just a statement of fact!

Telling of or typical spin job on Walker?

Wittman and McHale Discuss Miami Trade

Q: On how Antoine Walker fits in with the Wolves:
A: We'll find out. Hopefully he comes in and is professional. I know the last three or four weeks down in Miami haven't been all that pleasant. I think he's on Pat's (Pat Riley) conditioning program, which I think is a full-time job.

Q: On if they talked to other people about Walker:
A: You call around and do everything you can on those situations. Until you get a guy here and actually deal with him, it's just very hard to say how (he's going to be). But I've talked to people who have had him, guys that have played with him and been around him.

Q: On how Antoine Walker fits into the picture:
A: It's hard to say right now, until he we get him in here and he plays with guys. I know in the past he's had the ability to create mismatches because of his style of play. He's not a post-up player; he's a spacer that at the four spot can space the floor. He can play some three or had been able to. Again, we've already crossed another year that I need to see him and where he's at physically and whether he can do that. I know last year when we played him, he played the majority at three. He gives us another guy that can play two positions. I can't really put an emphasis on that until he gets in here.

Q: On if he has anything to worry about with Walker:
A: No I don't. I've talked to a number of people - Doc Rivers and myself are very good friends, Doc had him in Boston - and from the people I talked to I don't think I have anything to worry about.

Walking Into Minnesota

"I still have a lot left in the tank. I still believe I can play. I still think I can contribute to a team, help a team. I'm going to make the most of my role. Right now everything is so undetermined: how many minutes I'm going to play, whether I'm going to start, come off the bench. I just want to come in and fit in with the guys. Whatever my role is to help this team win, I'm going to try and do that." - Wolves forward Antoine Walker

Little did Walker know that his role would eventually be no role. He's riding the pine.
