The Bucks have to get out of this "2 steps forward, 6 steps back mentality". Oh well, "Here comes the Sund, do do do do". Kohl keeps screwing this team. And as much as people love Kohl for keeping the team here, I'm surprised the local press and everybody else is giving him a pass after taking a Howard Schultz approach to the arena issue("I'll let the next owner worry about building a new arena"). Kohl will keep the team here, but he basically has assured us that when he's no longer owner of the Bucks they will most likely leave Milwaukee.

The truth is Walsh would want NOTHING to do with Kohl and his little circle jerks.

Kohl has sort of committed himself to a big name and ESPN is big name.

I say just give Jeff Van Gundy full complete power head coach and GM.....

when he was deign commentary when we played the Lakers he understood this team and had great ideas.........if not GM I would love to see Van Gundy as coach.

JVG has a good basketball mind. And that is sorely lacking in the Bucks offices.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Jeff Van Gundy won't come here.....the Van Buren (Gundy) boys believe with 100% conviction that Herb Kohl putting alumni pressure on was the reason Stan Van Gundy got fired from the Badgers so quickly.

If you recall our one national TV game a few months back against the Lakers we got Van Gundy as the color man. He was pretty brutal on the Bucks "management" or lack of it.

Those two guys will never work for Herb. The book is out.

Has the MJS even reported that Donnie Walsh was a possible candidate for the Bucks job? If not, then I guess they wouldn't need to bother reporting this.

The Walsh thing has been totally made up by the Ny media. I just want someone with an outside voice to get us going in another direction. an assistant gm with a good team or a past coach or veteran who has had success. Don't rip on Herb yet for not getting someone if they were never in the equation.

As assistant GM with a good team would be great in most cases. But Kohl would never give control to a rookie GM.

Based on this ESPN story, Walsh is staying in Indiana.

Sounds like he is getting his way and they'll toss Bird overboard.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3307780

Updated: March 23, 2008, 10:02 AM ET
Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh, who has reportedly had discussions with the New York Knicks about possibly replacing Isiah Thomas as team president, is leaning toward staying with Indiana, according to a published report.

"Barring something crazy happening, Donnie is staying," an unnamed source told The New York Daily News. "The players all got a sense on Friday that Donnie would be around."

A key hold up for Walsh is the future of Pacers team president Larry Bird.

Walsh met with Pacers owners Herbert and Melvin Simon for eight hours on Friday, according to the newspaper, and Bird would have to relinquish day-to-day duties of running the franchise to Walsh. That scenario leaves the future for the Hall of Fame player uncertain.

Last Monday, Bird said he couldn't be sure whether he will be back next season.

"I don't know," Bird told the Indianapolis Star when asked if he believed he and Walsh would return to the front office next season. "We'll just wait and see."

The Pacers are 29-41 and have seen a number of players make headlines for bad behavior or trouble with the law in the past few years.

Two weeks ago the Simon brothers said that they had enough and pledged changes would be made -- and that everything except ownership of the team would be on the table.
