J-Smooth Question
What do the hawks management feel about Josh Smith? Is he a lock to get re-signed to an extension? He's absolutely a beast and I'm still dreaming of seeing him wearing a raptor jersey!
Also, would you guys be interested in acquiring TJ Ford? and if yes, at what cost?
Goodluck with the season. Hope you guys steal that 8th spot~

The only trade that I see that makes sense for TJ Ford is actually Bibby. I only say that given the following scenario:
If Toronto has to pay a lot to keep Jose Calderon and decide they are spending too much over too many years at the PG spot. They then decide to trade TJ for financial reasons along with either the last year of Rasho's big contract or possibly Jason Kapono's multiyear contract.
Bibby is expiring at the end of next year and could possibly be dealt by the deadline, if not he could the one year backup at PG and they can look at improving the team in free agency at the end of the year.
Again that's a lot of ifs, but it is a way I can see Atlanta taking a chance on TJ Ford. Don't expect to be able to move TJ for a talented young player though because the situation with injury history, the free agent status of Calderon, and salary matching issues. Because of these factors most of what you'll be able to land for TJ you probably won't like (I see declining SGs like Quentin Richardson or Cuttino Mobley).

Peace!
there is no realistic offer from the suns not including amare

Josh Smith isn't going anywhere. He wants to be in ATl (his home) and we want him here. As far as Ford, I dont think we would give up much for him at all. We would like Calderon though.
As far as the Suns trade goes, I dont even think we would take Nash. He is old and would only give us another few years. Amare would be it. It was ohave to be Smoove and another player for Amare. Other than that I don't see us doing anything with the Suns. Imagine...
Bibby
JJ
Marvin
Horford
Amare
with Chill, Law, and Za off the bench.

I honestly dont know if we will keep Smoove. I have a feeling that we might do a sign and trade for a true center. We have Horford, when he gets in his prime and moves to PF he is gonna be an amazing player. I know that he will do fine as our center, but I dont think anyone would argue that he would be even better at PF. Josh is valuable to our team and everyone knows that he will be valuable to any team. If we can get a really good player in exchange for him, I dont have a problem with BK pulling the trigger. But it has to be a player that is around the same talent level as Smoove.

I feel this way about all of our players. Josh, Joe, Horford... at this point none of them are untouchable. The question is, as JoshB points out, who are we going to get in return that can have a similar impact? If we can get a center around that skill level, than yeah go for it. Trade Al and Josh if you can get Dwight out of it. Problem is that we are going to be getting more offers of guys like Bogut (if that) who is a step down in every aspect of the game.

I can't see trading Smith. No player is untouchable but trading him doesn't make sense.
We aren't going to get a quality center for him.
You win in this league with star power. As much as Smith frustrates me at times he has the chance to be a special player. he can bring a set of skills to a game that few players can.
If his BBall IQ ever catches up with his competitiveness then he could be scary. We might have to wait awhile for that though.

i don't see any way josh isn't back in atlanta next year. we would match any offer for him and he hasn't said anything close to not wanting to play for atlanta next year. i could see him being overpaid however and that could lead to the loss of childress. kinda like how elton brand got a high offer from the heat and when the clippers matched they gave the same deal to lamar odom. we could have the same situation happen here.
