76ers rivals

Post#2 » by Cookin Baskets » Sat Mar 22, 2008 2:34 am

Well, the Nets for one is a team were trying fight off for a playoff spot but were much better, Raptors are a rival since that great A.I,Vc series and they 76ers and Raptors are always close games, lakers/celtics always a philly rival, the upcoming Hawks should be rivals,or how about Magic it seems like Philly gets under Orlando's skin and the sixers have proved they can beat the Magic and since A.I/Tmac when Orlando/Philly used to match up a few years ago and the upset from sixers in 99 over orlando in an upset in 5 games.

So I would say:
1.Nets (Closest team,Rivals fighting for playoff berth)
2.Magic(Rival since 99, and now how the sixers and magic matchup)
3.Lakers(Last time I checked they stole a few championships from philly in 01 recently)
4.Raptors(Since that A.I/VC series, and Raptors/76ers contest are usually very close.)
5.Celtics(Old rivalary, but when the sixers continue to improve it will be revived, come on philly get Elton Brand  )

Yea, but I would say Nets, and some teams are rival just because of location/division or what happend in the past between the two teams and the teams haven't forgetten. When the 76ers rebuild to a good team, but Raptors,Nets are rivals in Atlantic division right now. Lakers/Celtics past, and Magic used to be in our divison, while two of 1st round lottery picks Dwight Howard/Igoudala in 04 face and the games are close to the wire, as were when Tmac/A.I used to play, and when A.I upset them in the 99 sseason.

Yeah the nets could be considered a rival, but neither team is that good and a sixers-nets match-up doesn't exactly create to much excitement/anticipation among fans. While we have been winning the last couple of weeks, I dont think that we are close to an elite team. Only elite or really good teams have rivalry match-ups that are highly anticipated and advertised as a rivalry.

Our rival right now would be Washington since they are just above us in the standings.

Right now the two teams I most want to beat:

Celtics- because I remember back when it counted

Denver- For obvious reasons

All of the rest are just opponents.

I think Detriot might be a rival for this team.

We've played them alot in the playoffs over the last 3-4 years, Larry Brown jumped ship with them. And the last time we made the playoffs they knocked us out of the game.

The Sixers will most likely play them again this year too.

Boston and Detroit d/t history, but other rivalries may unfold over the next few years. If they regain a high level of success, they will need to beat teams like Washington and Orlando as well.

I've never felt the Nets were a rival, probably b/c the two teams were never really good at the same time.

I agree we don't have any rivals at this point. Maybe in a few yrs when we are good enough and have been in the playoffs all of those yrs we might have a rival and a hatred for a team. It's been to long since the Iverson playoff runs and I don't really view the Celitcs or Lakers as rival the 80's don't really matter at this point. Plus we are not even in the same class with these teams to make it a rivalry.

Pretty much every team in this division.
Two years from being two years away.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
