I'm not sure though that the argument on rebounds has to be based entirely on size......arguably it is harder for a Pac-10 player to track down a rebound when you've got a guy at the talent level of a Westbrook or Collison darting under there versus say "John Schwartz" playing for Air Force in the MWC.
I don't want to totally belittle the competition that Bogut faced, but I guess I disregarded it back in June 2005 when CBQ kept trying to tell this board that Bogut was putting up his numbers against some bad teams. So I think that for all the faults of Lopez, he should at least get a plus mark for playing at a higher level....and for when he faced a small frontline, doing his job, scoring 30, playing good defense and hitting the game winning shot.

Well, you know my position. The gulf in talent between the PAC-10 and the MWC (or the WAC -- but not in this case, my mistake) is not big enough to account for 4 rpg and a 15% difference from the field. Bogut also beat up on some bigger schools including a few PAC-10 teams (Washington, Arizona) and a LSU team with Brandon Bass and Big Baby. They're short, but they could rebound with the best of them, and Bogut had 24 and 17 against that frontline. It's pure speculation obviously, but I believe they would have absolutely killed Lopez given how much trouble he has offensively against a strong but otherwise pretty unathletic guy in Love.
I still say Bogut over Lopez every time. And I still say his game winner was utter garbage.

Also, how does a team with 2 7 foot NBA prospect big men get outrebounded on the glass by a team with none, and how does one of those NBA bigmen come away with 4 boards and anybody can say he's done his job? He was the game's 9th leading rebounder, so even against a small and far-less-than-pro quality frontcourt, all is not rosy for Lopez.

Beasley = Robinson

I don't think he's as good as Big Country was either but I agree with your point in essence. He'll go Top 5 in this draft in all probability but I don't see him producing at that level in the NBA.
Guys like Big Country and Bogut were dominant college basketball players. Lopez isn't a dominant player. Hell, there are a lot of games where you could argue he's closer to someone like Brian Butch in productivity than standout collegians like Reeves and Bogut were.
I think emunney's posts in this thread about him have been spot on.
