I'd suggest stick to yourself and make it raw and personal, rather than what felt like a dubbed down version of pop-rap. I'm sure you've got a story to tell. Be real; tell it. As a young white middle class rapper, it's going to be hard as hell for you, (as if it isn't hard enough for anyone to be a rapper :-)), so tell you're story. I think you'd be best received as a real, raw, lyricist spitting on issues that have affected and molded you. Further, that's probably when your best lyrics and song will surface.

Dev, dude, shut up, you're stealin my idea! emo-rap. it's on it's way, i'm certain. imagine Dashboard Confessional droppin rhymes.

Mo, can't say it really strikes a chord with me dude, sorry. i'm a big fan of good word play (Aussie hip-hop has some of the most poetic bastards in the world. they've got punchlines that make Oscar Wilde flip out) and a lot of what i was hearing was probably more relevant to your life, more than mine. you ever listened to much Atmosphere/Slug, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Pharoah Monch, Lyrics Born, J5 and anyone like that? i'd recommend it, because it'd give your rhymes more diversity and could give you ideas on different ways to phrase what you're sayin.

that's not to say it's no good, because as far as i can tell it could be as good as Souljah Boy or Chamillionaire or Chingy or whoever, because as soon as i get a whiff of one of their tracks i either turn it off or tune it out. your general flow sounds fine to me - a little drowned out by the bass.

Soul, that song of yours was pretty damn good. nice production values and everything. i'm surprised you didn't get somewhere with it.
