Post#1 » by bobobolas1 » Mon Mar 24, 2008 7:48 pm

I have read today in the spanish media that the lakers could be interested in Juan Carlos Navarro (grizzlies.) he is free agent this summer.

His contract would be aroud 3mill. What do u think about him? He is a pretty good shooter and a perfect fit from the bench.

That may be the first time I have ever seen someone take the Machine over anyone.

I'd rather keep Coby Karl.

Cut Coby Karl? The guy has talent, if there's anyone one the Lakers team that I'd consider cutting it would be Luke.

well, we might as well keep Sasha and Coby.

it's not like anyone we draft (unless Demarcus Nelson falls to us) will be better than Coby lite

No. I think Coby has potential to be a solid all around guard. I love his crisp passes, good rebounding for his position, and defensive energy. His shooting will come around once he's settled into the rotation (The machine shot worse his rookie year, but both players have a clean release and a nice stroke). He's strong for his size and plays smart. There's not much to dislike about Coby, actually.

JCN can shoot pretty well. That's all he can do actually. Considering Vujacic, Fish, and Farmar can shoot even better, what's the incentive in getting JCN? Pau's friend? Didn't do much for Memphis.

I am very high on Coby Karl. His skills and game are perfect for our team and our offense. I'd love to see how he develops in a few years with the Lakers. Considering how he came back from surgery to remove throat cancer, I'm very comfortable with betting the house on this horse. Can't question his love for the game, his commitment to play in this league.

I saw Navarro play a few times this season and I have to say that he is the better player even when compared to Vujacic. Fisher, Farmar, Vujacic and Karl can all shoot the ball, but none of them is as dead eye as Navarro. When you leave this guy open, he knocks it down every single time. He is also a pretty good passer who is capable of running an offense on a part time basis.

you are right man...

Also you have to add JCN has been playing in europe, in elite in europe for many years. He knows what it takes to win tittles and he is very competitive.
His skills and his attitude is more developed than all those players that goes to the nba from high school or 2nd years in university.

I'd compare him maybe with Iverson. Most of players in nba uses just the muscles to be there, some are talented but not so many. That kind of players like AI o navarro HAVE to be very smart to be there. Maybe his D is not good enough but he knows exactly where he has to be and helps a lot in the paint.

JCN has potential to be better than any other guard in the lakers, except Kobe obv, but his poor defense would be a problem in a team that already is awfull in perimeter defense, btw to have a shooter that can easily go over 50% if he's open, like lot of times are fish or the machine, would be a great add, and he can penetrate as well, i understand most of fans dont really know what Navarro can do but he was the best player left in Europe and a guy doesnt forget to play the ball, and something important, he is VERY hungry after this year in Memphis.
I dont really think that there's any chance he can go to the Lakers but wouldnt be bad news.

I'd like to see who else is available for the MLE first, but JCN would be a nice fit on our bench. I consider him a much better player than Coby at this point, and I like the kid (Coby that is).

I agree. I was watching him for years in Europe and he was deadly, has no fear and is not afraid of taking responsibility in the last moments of the game. We all know that everybody has eyes on Kobe and that he can not save us every time. I take him over Sasha anytime and I'm from Slovenia.
