I think the gripe about "experimenting" is a legit one, and is more than just typical reactionary blabber.
Doc has definitely gone to some odd rotations recently, where he's playing 4 or 5 bench players at a time. I don't like it, because 1) it costs us games in the short term, and 2) doesn't build any chemistry, because the bench players aren't going to be playing with four other bench players should we reach the playoffs.
I think we need to mix the bench players -- especially Cassell and P.J. -- in with the starters, and use them situationally like we would in the playoffs. I think that's the best way to utilize them for the remainder of the season, rather than these odd-ball experimental lineups.
That being said, I don't blame the loss on Doc. It's just something he's doing in the games that I think is counter-productive.

I understand the rotation concerns. I realize Doc has been experiment since our two recent additions. But IMO, He needs to get a set rotation soon so we can establish it down the stretch of the season. I hope we finish the year off really strong and just roll over our first round opponent.
Here is my lineup:
Rondo 33 Minutes/Cassell or House 15 Minutes (Depends on the night)
R. Allen 36 min/T. Allen 10 Min
Pierce 36 Min/ Posey 14 minutes
KG 20 Minutes/Powe 18 Minutes/Baby 10 Minutes
Perk 30 minutes/KG 18 Minutes/Brown Emergency
I realize that during games you cant be so specific. But these would be my normal subs on a normal night. Occasionally letting Cassell finish off a game.
First Half:
Sub Baby for Perkins 6:00 min in First
Sub TA in for Allen 7:00 Min in first
Sub Cassell or House for Rondo 7:00 Min in first
Sub Posey in for TA Start of Second
Sub Powe for Baby Start of second

Establishing a set rotation ready for the playoffs would be a much bigger concern if we were in the Western Conference, but in the Eastern Conference playing the 8th seed, we don't really need to worry about having everything right for the first round IMO. If Doc was using an 8 man rotation, people would be complaining about how the big 3 is playing too many minutes.
Right now we need to get Cassell and PJ implemented. The 3 practices that we have this week will go a long way toward doing that. We also need to try to get TA out of his funk before the playoffs come. He is our best perimeter defender and we are going to need the "good TA" against Lebron. We also need to see how the Cassell/House backcourt works.
We have 12 games to go. Use the next 3-4 for experimenting. Then 3-4 games playing the rotation you'll use in the playoffs. And then end the season making sure everybody is well rested and as injury free as possible.

I don't see why this team coasting now is so bad for the team. It's only bad for the fans. The young kids like Baby and Powe can get more minutes which will be good for their confidence in the playoffs.
The guys seem to be emotionally drained after the Texas swing and I am fine with Doc letting off the gas a little bit. I just want to see the team clicking on all cylinders again by the last few games of the season.

Fixed.
He shouldn't be playing Center as he does not like it.
He wont really be playing center in a traditional sense for 10 of those 18 minutes at the 5. Baby will take the interior offensively and defensively. Powe will help some in the remaining 8 minutes. I just think you need a 7 footer in the game at any time.IMO, PJ shouldnt be more than insurance in case of injury or foul trouble.

I know...that was perhaps the stupidest post-loss posting I've read in a looooooooooooooooooooong time.
Experimenting? That would be if they were getting blown out since they were tinkering with lineups and ****. They lost to a damn good team, on the FIFTH game of a long road trip (NO), and then to a red-hot team fighting for their playoff lives (Philly). While it's a bummer, for sure, it's not panic-mode like that idiot thinks!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

They shouldn't be coasting because they haven't clinched home court yet and Doc should be experimenting, but not with lineups he has no intention of using in the playoffs. Doc said that he won't be using 5 bench players at the same time in the playoffs, so why waste time experimenting with it. Experiment with lineups you intend to use so Sam and PJ can properly adjust and get used to the players that will actually be on the floor with them.
By not using all bench players and using Sam and PJ in proper lineups, you get the two guys integrated while still winning games until home court is clinched. After the clinching, Doc can throw out there whoever he wants.

I couldn't agree more. If this was Celticsblog, I'd give you a tommy point. This is exactly right.

I also agree. While I do think this is no time for panic, we should clinch homecourt first. THEN rest guys and tinker.
