If there was an expansion draft...
If the NBA were to hold an expansion draft today what players would your favorite team end up protecting?
The complete rules for the expansion draft can be found here:

But basically your favorite team can choose up to 8 players to protect for the expansion draft, unrestricted free agents can't be protected as unrestricted free agents can't be selected in the expansion draft but restricted free agents can be protected since they are eligible to being selected in a expansion draft.

The new expansion team will not take McGrady's, Rafer's or Bobby's salary.
Are you kidding? of course, they would take McGrady! What better way to start a franchise than with a franchise player? He would be the money maker, the face of the franchise, you can`t pass on an opportunity like that.

You might be right, but this league has absolutely no respect for McGrady. McGrady has been forgotten by your casual NBA fans, and the number of all-star votes should be that indication.

As an expansion team GM I would take TMac if only to trade him for some of those protected players and draft picks. Being a Pistons fan I could see Dumars tradeing Amir Johnson, Stuckey, Prince for TMac. I take those pieces and begin to build. Lets face it the NBA is so watered down that theres no 8 man thats going to help. Theres no Gerald Wallace sitting on a bench with no playing time.

The team would surely take one or two if possible of Brown/Simmons/Nichols/Curry. Young guys still on their rookie contracts who could perform for a team with no pressure.
