I wouldn't expect Chris Paul to get into a war of words ... But it would make for some great storyline basketball, should these two teams end up crossing paths in the playoffs ...

Um, it'd be a problem if he was running his mouth about himself "I'm the greatest PG in the NBa, etc" but no, he's sticking up for his teammate, totally different things and should be taken into account.

Chris Paul is the man, although Rafer Alston didn't really say anything wrong.

What Rafer said was true. New Orleans was out West, but so what? Houston was out Ming.

But what CP3 said was also true. Rafer is riding TMac's coattails and that'a the only reason he's in a position to say that. Rafer isn't a good enough player to come out and make a statement like that true or not.

Props to CP3. He's got a clean cut, good boy image and was not afraid to get dirty to have his guy's back. I bet everyone in that Hornets locker room respects the hell outa CP3 for that. I know I do.

  Apparently you never saw him punch a guy in the nuts when he was in college.

Wow my respect for Paul is going down. What Rafer said was a fact. Does anyone even really think that West is a "superstar"? Much less a player of Yao's caliber?

Paul is being immature. Alston didn't call himself an All-Star player in any way.

Paul should have just shut his mouth and let his play do the talking. There's no danger of anyone ranking Alston higher than Paul in terms of skills.

But I'm starting to rate Alston higher in terms of maturity.

No he didn't, West is an all star caliber player. Rafer not being the leader of this team had no business running his mouth like that. If it came from somebody like Mcgrady, than fine. But Alston has to recognize his position in the league before he starts talking about players that are better than him. Not even Lebron or Kobe would make a statement like that, and they are the best in the game. They always talk about how good another player is, but when they want to make point about how much a player doesn't matter, they just play better than them.

That's crap. You're saying roleplayers need to keep their mouth shut, and only superstars have the right to run their mouth off? IMHO, they should all keep their mouths shut and let their play do the talking., But that's not gonna happen.

Besides, what does it mean to be an "all star caliber" player? Oh yeah, you were popular with the fans (remember where the ASG was held?), that's all.

Rafer said West wasn't a superstar in Yao's league, and it's true. He was defending the team's streak from the usual crap about how we got lucky for 22 games.

Besides, nowhere did he even say he was better than West OR Paul. So throwing insults about Rafer's skills as an NBA players is useless.

If anything, Paul just lowered himself to Rafer's level by whining to the media.

And West. You shouldn't comment publicly on players you know you can't hold a candle too.

Really? Fans do it all the time. 90% of the members here probably couldn't hold Ryan Bowen's jockstrap. Yet we insult him all the time.

Similar to Rafer, here is what Shaq told a Boston reporter:

"We have professionals who know what to do. No one is asking me to play with Chris Quinn or Ricky Davis. I'm actually on a team again"

It's not really similar to Rafer's situation at all. Rafer wasn't completely disrespecting West, he was just saying he's not on the level Yao Ming is. And he was talking about people who are better than him, who can out play him.

Shaq completely trashed his old teammates, but he doesn't have to worry about lighting a fire under Quinn and making him dominate the next time the Suns play the Heat.
