It's not like we are going to do anything in the playoffs anyways...

Kevin Love, Hibbert, Augstine, Jordan are all possibilities at 14 but this is the lowest possible pick. With Cuban's luck we how can you say we won't end up higher.

However this is not the Lebron, Mellow, D-Wade draft by a long shot.

I'm starting to really like Batum

we should try to trade terry for a 1st in the early 20s and nab collison or Hibbert

Kidd/collison*
Batum/Stack/Wright
Josh/George
Dirk/Bass
Hibbert*/damp

I think this may be a blessing in disguise.

You mean that Avery will learn how to coach without Dirk?

Not Likely

Lottery - for two reasons:
A) we could improve the quality of the players with a 1-4, or 14 pick.

B) The only way that we replace the coach is IF the team misses the playoffs so yeah I might agree with the "blessing in disguise" approach.
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

Every team has a chance to get the 1-3 pick, but after that it goes by record. We would be the team with the best record in the lottery, so we would have a 1.8% chance to get a top 3 pick. If that didn't happen we'd have 14. There's no possibility of 4-13.

I got an idea to make this team a championship team.

1 Fire Avery
2 Make Kidd the player/coach. dude has the leadership, respect and smarts to do it
3 Go to a motion offense and get rid of every single fkin iso. more emphasis on ball movement

or just keep Avery if he's willing to go to a motion offense. but our offense blows right now bcos Kidd is a terrible fit for it. Going to a motion offense will allow us to take advantage of our HOF PGs strengths, and guys like Bass will flourish. Hopefully Josh stops playing like a turd as well.

To get rid of ISOs we will need to get rid of Stack, Howard, Dirk and Bass.

nah not really. i think that dirk and bass will adjust to being set up by Kidd pretty quickly, Howard will take a while longer but I can definitely see him benefitting from Kidd in the long run. Stack, yeah, we can get rid of him since he's useless anyhow

Avery wouldn't agree to coach a motion offense.

Mavs are an old team. After they miss the playoffs (or make them, does it make a difference? They'll get bounced in the 1st round anyway) Cuban needs to consider trading everybody away. Now is the time to get any value for players. Terry, Josh, Damp, and Stack need to go.

But my guess is Cuban sticks with this team (and Avery) for another year to see if Kidd can work better in Avery's iso system (which is ridiculous in itself, because, as we've all seen, Kidd isn't that type of player). Then Cuban will blow it up and trade everyone away.

Stack and probably Terry need to go and have needed to go for a long time now. I like Terry and he can work in certain situations, but that isnt here with another PG already in tact. We'd all said he needs to be a PG next to a Kobe, LBJ, Tmac, Pierce, ect type of ball-handler/play-maker. He cant get away with playing SG. Stackhouse simplely needs to go pronto.

I think getting rid of those two, and maybe even Bass simpley because of his value and he is replaceable / not the perfect fit at PF here because of his size andunability to effective play small ball center consistently, then you can get some good pieces. Add in a possible 12-14 lottery pick and we could possible add two solid players...

Terry/Bass package
Stack/#14 package
or some combination of that.

J.Kidd / T.Lue
______ / E.Jones
J.Howard / D.George
D.Nowitzki / _______
_______ / E.Dampier

We should be able to get a starting SG out of one of those packages and then a 6th man, even an upgrade at center with the other. That would leave two spots needing to be filled, which would be fine with our MLE available. Resigning guys like D.George or A.Wright and T.Lue or J.Barea should be prettty simply IMO, getting one of the two for each position I'd think.

I hate to say it but from the game tonight there sure seemed to be more up-tempo and motion to the offense... Part of that came from the fact that the Clipps didn't compete on the boards and Dampier found Kidd repeatedly in the middle of the floor.

But even in the half-court there was more motion and less clear out than usual... We may be learning.

The biggest positive for me from the trade (hey trying to be positive here! 8) ) is the improvement of DAMP the beast! Obviously still inconsistent, but the dude previously known as Erica has been really impressive and he's looking to run more, get those easy baskets off Kidd's feeds, etc.

The thing outweighing that is the regressed play of Howard who's been wildly inconsistent since the trade and Terry, who's been so up and down this whole season.

This offseason: we need to trim the fat and get rid of the old spares such as Jones, Juwan (damn we cut Fazekas instead of him :nonono: ), Magloire looks really bad, George.

Terry and Stackhouse should also go, really wish that Maggette for Terry trade worked out!

Last offseason, we should have targeted guys like Pietrus, Blatche instead of picking up EJ and Juwan. :noway:

But with Avery as head coach, young guys won't get much of a chance under the one-who-can-do-no-wrong Stackhouse.

Also, if we fail to make the POs, we can even use our pick in a package for an allstar type player (long shot maybe). But anyways, I don't think anyone on this team is untouchable.
