Celtic-Sun Victory Cigar & Post Game Thread 3/26/2008
Pleased to see great games by Kevin Garnett & Paul Pierce.
Doc used Ray Allen 45 minutes, who had 8 assists and 14 points on 5-10 FG's.
I'm glad to see that Doc gave Eddie House 12:46, at least he fits in with the team. Sam seems more of a one on one type, whose bricking continues (1-4).
I've really come to appreciate Tony Allen's great Defense, rebounding, ability to penetrate and finish, and occasionally make some shots.
I also dig Eddie a whole lot, for his team play, blending in, great shot, not taking his shot when he's off, and quick hands on defense.
Great game by all, and really nice to have James Posey back, who played well against Grant Hill when he had him.
The big choice tonight is between Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

I personally would pick Eddie se to be the player of the game. When sam Cassell came in for Rondo at the end of the first half they blew a considerable lead by the half because Cassell slowed the tempo down and still hasnt figured out his role with the scond unit. When Eddie House came in to play back up pg in the second half he kept the tempo up which allowed the team to play their game and beat the suns. He might not have put up amazing numbers, but he played within the teams game and in my opinion this allowed the celts to come out on top tonight.

The key to beating the Suns is locking down Nash, and Rondo did a very good job on him tonight. I voted Garnett because it was really nice seeing him assert himself offensively, and he didn't have any turnovers in the process.
I don't know the stats on it, but I'm willing to say it's not common occurrence to see a player get 30 points and 0 turnovers.

Very nice game from our starting 5. We played well but some of the turnovers we make...those drive me crazy.
I liked KG`s aggressiveness on offense. He posted up and basically was unstoppable. I would like to see more games where he dominates like that. That is why I am going with KG. But Pierce also had a great game.
I also have to give some credit to Doc. Sure he blew our lead in the second quarter again but in the forth he went with House instead of Cassell and our game wasmuch more fluid and organized. Cassell really isn`t playing well, hopefully these practices in the next few days will help him.

Anyone else think KG, the power foward, doesn't deserve the victory cigar with a Mark Blount-esque three rebound performance?
It was nice to seem him post up a bit more, though. This is what I meant earlier in the season when i said for all of KG's supposed toughness he is soft. Why doesn't he go down low like that every night? It seems to be just his decision of how he is wants to play that night. He dominated down low it would be nice to see him play to that strength and give the team a need low post presence every game instead of only the games were he feels like it.
I voted for PP. Sometimes, his shot is falling and he may force it sometimes but he always brings the same game and same intensity. Paul doesn't take games of like KG and shy away from contact. Every night he attacks the basket and plays to his strengths. He is the true team MVP.

KG was great, but I agree. I gave the edge to Paul because of his rebounding was better than KG's and he dominated the 4th quarter.

I agree that I would like to see him post up more but that is just not him. He is not built to bang down low against big guys but when the matchups are favourable and he isn`t physically inferior he does it.
And to say Pierce brings the same intensity each game is nonsense. Sometimes he looks like he doesn`t want to be outthere and looks disinterested, that is something you never see with KG.
Every player in this league "takes games off" because it is impossible to play 82 games with the same energy and motivation. But to single out KG here is ridiculous, he is one of these guys that show effort every game even though they are physically or mentally tired.
And please don`t ever use names KG and Blount in the same sentence...
