Are we going to get rid of Iggy?
Thad wants to play small foward which I think he should play..as he is a bit undersized to play power foward. However, thats a problem because Iggy is playing small foward. Unless we can move Iggy to guard and get rid of willie green, (which we should do) then we will either have to trade Iggy, or keep playing Thad at power foward. What do you guys think?

Iggy moves to SG, Thad moves to SF, ? moves to PF, Sam stays at Center, and everyone's happy. The trick is finding that post up PF who at the same time, can keep up with our speed and not hinder our fast break. That is going to be tricky. DiLeo and Stefanski are going to have to be very careful that the PF we bring in here fits our system.

Can brand keep up?
Can okafor?
Smith can, and Beidrins already plays in an uptempo style...

not everyone need to run on the break. someone has to throw the outlet pass/trail the play. that would be brand. This isn't even an issue since we have a deer like sammy at C.
+ we aren't bringing in a 4 to make our fastbreak better. we need a plan B when the break isn't going and brand would provide that in the halfcourt.
Brand is a perfect fit defensively

They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

No, Not always. The only one that we might be able to get is Okafor because he's been somewhat of a disappointment in Charlotte and they may not want to pay him that much money when they can get the same production from their draft pick, but I highly doubt that.
But Brand isnt gonna take that much of a pay cut. G-State isnt gonna let Biedrins leave after they finally have decent playoff team and a young big. We have a better chance of taking Al Harrington off their hands. Atlantas not gonna let Smith leave unless they get Dalembert and some picks back, if at all.
Id bet anybody on this board that our next PF will come from the draft, or there's a small chance that it comes from a trade. But it will not come from free agency or through sign-and-trade. We'd have to give up too much and we dont have enough cap space.

carl, are you saying you wouldnt be happy if we added okafor? Id be pretty happy about that addition. He isnt an offensive monster but he would average at least 16 on the sixers. Possibly more. Do you know how many times Andre Miller finds Reggie Evans in the post but wisely goes elsewhere. Plus him and Daly would be one of the best defensive frontcourt tandems

I didnt say I wouldnt be happy if we added Okafor, just that there's only about a 10% chance that they'll let him leave for nothing. We will only have about $10 million after Andre and Lou get signed. Im not sure that would be enough to pry him away without Charlotte matching.
As for Jaminson, sure Id like to have him...if it was 2002. That guy is what, 33 years old? We already have his clone in Young. Im not that excited about adding a guy like that. I thought we wanted someone who could play with his back to the basket and gaurd the Duncans, Howards, and Al Jeffersons of the NBA. Jamison defenitely isnt that. Besides, why would he leave the familiarity of Washington and the chemistry that hes built there to come to a new city on an up-and-coming team? Washington has two all stars(Arenas, Butler), veterans still within or close to their prime(Daniels,Stevensen, Haywood,Songalia), and young prospects with potential(N.Young, Blatche,McGuire). We have some of that, but not all of that. Lets not forget, the Wiz were a top 3 team in the East when they were healthy. Why would he leave, and why would we want him?

Thabbeet's going to be a guy I'm going to watch a lot of tape on between now and June, since he's a guy who could go around our pick. From what (little) I've seen of him, his learning curve is higher than most "raw" defensive centers, and with his height and athleticism, if he picks it up even a little, he's going to be a force defensively. Surely not perfect, but drafting in the late teens, we're not going to find a perfect potential draftee.

Derek, let us know what you see from your scouting.
If we think we can acquire a stud PF through a trade/FA I'm also on board for using our mid 1st round pick on someone like Thabbeet. He will be a bargain as a back-up defensive center, and should be able to be a good rebounder and defender on the second team right away.
Then, over three years we can see if he can be groomed into a decent enough outlet passer and dunker to replace Sam when his contract is up. In the meantime, we need a big athlete to throw 6 fouls at Howard, and he certainly would fit the bill.
I would not change our starters solely with an eye on matching up with Orlando, but I do think the Sixers will end up having to go through Orlando over the next 5-10 years, so why not have a cheap bench player who can at least physical match up and ive you 10-15 minutes of defense (or at worse Hack-a-Howard.)
I guess spending a #1 on a back-up is a high price, but centers are hard top find, and best case he might grow into an important piece down the road.
