Wiz @ Kings

Post#1 » by DallasShalDune » Thu Mar 27, 2008 6:37 pm

The Washington Wizards @ the former Kansas City Kings !
(Sorry, had to put my KC pride in there)

Date: Friday, March 28, 2008
Time: 10:00pm (EST)

Who is going to win??

Our 37-34 Bullets or those 32-39 Kings
PG: Antonio Daniels
SG: DeShawn Stevenson
SF: Caron Butler, 2 Time All-star
PF: Antawn Jamison, 2 Time All-star
C: Brendan Haywood
Honorable Mention:
Roger Mason The dude kept us going, and allowed me to make another plain, yet at the same time beautiful, game thread. Can he put up another amazing 4th, or will we even need it. Maybe, we can just have a strong start so we don't need such a super-human outburst from Roger Mason "Formally Including" Jr.

Or the Queens?

PG: B. Udrih
SG: K. Martin
SF: R. Artest
PF: M. Moore
C: B. Miller

Honorable Mention:
F. Garcia The dude can ball, and we need to watch out, or he will score 30 against us. Keep a watchful eye on him, DeShawn.

Matchup of the Night:
Caron Butler vs. Ron Artest
It is not a question of who will out-preform who, but how quick will Caron piss Ron Ron enough to get him to pull a Flagrant 2, and get ejected. I hope it

Hey, do you guys think we'll catch up to Cleveland? We're playing better ball right now, albiet we're still inconsistant, but they're worse. It'd be nice to have some home court advantage, since we play better at the Phone Booth.

I think there is an outside chance that when Gil comes back, we'll get hot enough to snatch that spot from Cleveland's hands.

Barring a miracle (winning the next 3) I just don't see it happen. Cleveland remaining schedule is cake, and they're just now starting to get some of their injured players back.

Holding on to the 5th spot is going to be hard enough, I think the Charlotte and Portland games sealed our fate.

I hate playing the Kings. B.Miller always camps out at the top of the key. Haywood is always loathe to go out and guard him because he knows he has to protect the paint. Miller proceeds to score 10 points on 5-5 shooting in the first quarter. It happens every time.

Blatche better be ready tonight. With B.Miller and Mikki Moore popping 15-18 footers all game, it'll probably be a night where Haywood rides the bench most of the time.

By the way, the Kings are 32-39. Not 32-29.

Gracias. I knew better, it was just a typo.

I see what you mean by B Miller, but I also think Wood's gotten better at defense over the past year. I think he can get out there, or at least I hope so, because we're going to need him to be versitile to get anywhere.

This one could go either way. The Kings usually play hard.

Great points. And we can be pretty sure that EJ will counter with Songaila instead of Blatche. Wiz lose another one they should win.

Probably right but with EJ on any given night anything is possible. He might get it right.

Hard to argue against Songaila these days. He have been scoring a lot of layups and going inside. He has been playing like a PF with lots of energy and toughness.

D-Song has been playing well. We CAN beat the Kings...will we? Who knows. The Kings are better than the Sonics and we barely beat them.

This is the crucial game of the trip. Two out of five wins would be enough to consider it atleast a mildly successful venture. Lose tonight and the pressure will really be on in Utah and LA. Win and we play the rest of the week with house money.

Earlier in the year, I would have totally agreed with you and bemoaned
that possibility. However, the way Songaila has been playing, I'd say
that is probably the smart move tonight. Plus the tendancy (which
I wonder what the data on actually says) of former players going
off on their old teams, Songaila being an ex-king.

Not that I don't like to see Blatche get burn as a general principle.

Finally it's worth noting if it hasn't been already that the Kings
are VERY good at home, 22-12. Even if we are a better team,
I don't know that we should be surprised if the Kings hand it to us.
In their last 5 home games, they're 4-1, all without Bibby.

We better bring our A game.

Should be a win but who knows? Kings nearly lost a game to Memphis at home just two days ago. Wiz have played 2 poor games in a row. Hopefully AJ hits some shots and CB cuts down on the TOs to help get us back on track.

We'll beat teams that we consider, pre-game, to be more of a challenge.

When we underestimate our opponents, we lose (or come close to it).

I just hope we realize that this Sacramento team is much better than their record suggests (IMO, at least).

Kevin Martin is back and healthy, Artest is still one of the best small forwards in the NBA on both ends of the floor, Brad Miller is having a strong comeback season.

Don't take them lightly. They'd be in the playoffs in the East.

A request: when our beloved Wiz are trailing by 8 points in the 2nd quarter (although en route to an eventual 4th quarter comeback and 7 point victory...) can certain posters restrain themselves from the dramatic, The-Wizards-Have-Betrayed-Me-Our-Season-Is-Spiraling-Down-The-Tubes!!1 sort of responses? It makes no sense, particularly when you know you're going to jump back on the bandwagon after the comeback, or after the next win (should we lose the game, in the end).

Just an idea.

Enough with the "What constitutes a real fan" BS. I'm sick of it. Don't tell me you sit their watching your team play like crap, and drift into La La land thinking no biggie, they'll be back. Any normal person will vent, and yes I jump back on when they play well. What's it to ya?

Haha, that is why I don't visit the boards until after the game is over. Win or Lose, but I just cant stand the whining. Everyone is free to do what they want, but that's why I come back later.

I hear you. I'm not saying anyone isn't a real fan, either. I'm just trying to encourage some perspective, y'know? I want to read the game threads (especially because I only get the radio feed of Wiz games sometimes) but sometimes they're actually hard to read without literally going like this:

Peoples are allowed to vent, for sure. But the pessimism (i.e. trading Jamison since he stunk up 2 games after winning EC Player of the Week, even if everyone thinks that poster is nuts), can get ridiculous. Go read the Portland game thread (right after the Wiz had won 6 out of 7 games!) if you don't know what I'm talking about.
